My wife & I paid off our first mortgage which was $313.5 k from in 4.5 years from 2009 to 2013.

I became super obsessed with knocking it off. That achievement in our late 20s set us up for life.

This is why I am now 44 years old with a decent house no debt with 3 kids.

Did I blow up at my wife a few times because we didn’t put every single spare cent on the mortgage - the answer is yes.

But it has served us very well over the past 15 years.

Does that make me a financial abuser?

By modern definitions, I am guilty as charged!

QUESTION for the group….

I am looking at the “personal safety” data which is published by the ABS. In latest release was published in 2023 for FY 21-22.

It states the following:

“1 in 4 women experienced cohabiting partner emotional abuse (23%)”.

What does this mean??? What is “emotional abuse” in modern Australia?

It also states that “1 in 6 women experienced cohabiting partner economic abuse (16%)”!

What does that mean?

Does this include a husband telling his wife that they cannot afford her going to spending splurge on the latest fashion?

Any thoughts here??

It can involve restricting access to money, monitoring every purchase, preventing someone from working, or forcing them into financial dependence so they cannot leave.

Minimising this behaviour reinforces harmful narratives that abuse must be physical to be real. In reality, coercive control—often including financial abuse—is one of the strongest predictors of escalating violence. It traps people in cycles where leaving becomes logistically and emotionally overwhelming.

When society normalises or jokes about these dynamics, it silences victims, validates perpetrators, and delays intervention. We should be calling it what it is: a serious form of domestic violence that requires awareness, accountability, and zero tolerance.”

CRAZY! 🤣

I just received a phone call from a long term contact who responded to a text of mine. She told me about a male escort she knows (who is quite famous in NSW).

Apparently, this male escort is run off his feet!! He is in his 50s & he is serving women from 25 years old up to 80 years!

I checked this guy out. This guy charges $750 for a 4 hour dinner with no sex. A two hour sex session is $1,200. All night sex is $AUD 5,000!

The economics of this is absolutely insane! If people can splash this sort of coin around, we need a recession to reset expectations!

QUESTION? 🤔

I was just watching a segment from 60 minutes in the United States. The interviewee said that in the industrialised world statistically “sex has collapsed”.

Another US survey found that 1/3 of American men & 1/5 of American women have not had sex in the past 12 months!

Is this the same story in Australia? What the hell is going on?

I have been out of the dating market for 21 years. I have no idea what is going on.

What insights can you provide?

More information is coming through on the marriage motion.

Not only does the motion seek to ban marriage between cousins, aunts, uncles, etc, it will propose that Australia will not recognise any marriage along these lines performed outside of Australia! (The current law recognises marriages which happened in another country).

But wait… this is the HAMMER!

It will be a retrospective in nature. The Liberal Party right wing wants to terminate all existing cousin, aunt/uncle marriages in Australia!

I know a christian lebanese couple in the Illawarra, they have been married for 40 years+. They are in their 60s. They are first cousins, they got married in Australia late 70s/early 80s.

They have 3 kids & multiple grandkids.

The drafter of the motion wants to terminate this marriage stating that there can be no exceptions!

My contacts in the Jewish community tell me that Jewish cousin marriage has been happening in Australia for an extended period of time!

A fascinating scandal inside the NSW Young Liberals. A motion was put forward for debate calling for cousin marriages to be prohibited in Australia.

The president of the NSW Young Liberals, Cooper Gannon, vetoed the motion! The Liberal Party doesn’t want the public or the media to even know that this topic is being discussed inside the party.

It appears to me that the Liberal Party, despite Angus Taylor calling for Australian values is completely caving to entrenched interests in Western Sydney!

So as we speak, cousin marriages is a prohibited subject inside the Liberal Party! Shocking!

It is fascinating. The Marriage Act doesn’t ban cousin marriages as we speak. Also, marriages performed overseas are recognised under Australian law.

If a future King of Australia married their cousin, it is unlikely that Australian law would recognise her as the Queen of Australia.

On this basis, I suspect monarchists would oppose any legislation banning cousin marriages in Australia (unless there was a specific carve out for the Royal family).

Queen Elizabeth & Prince Phillip were 3rd cousins.

At the writing of the Australian constitution, one of Queen Victoria’s daughters was married to her second cousin from Germany.
