For some reason, I've managed to watch several movies recently

"Don't Look Up" (2021) - when it was released, I, of course, ignored/missed it but yeah, the movie is remarkable

One specific thing I loved there is the epilogue set in 22K years in the future

I've always loved such distant - and realistic - depictions of an extremely far future, not some mere 2090 or 2126; no - THOUSANDS of years. Incomprehensible by a human mind

What I saw there, "22,000+ years in the future", was so beautiful and brutal that I'm still impressed
Reminded me of the last episodes of Herbert Wells' "Time Machine" where he got to something absolutely unreal: "... further ahead to roughly 30 million years from his own time..."

What he saw there was even more unhuman than what was depicted in Don't Look Up

The canon of English Language Teaching industry traditionally frowns upon Teacher Talking Time. If one takes all the recommendations and requirements, blends them into one piece to get a general idea, they'll get - THE LESS, THE BETTER

Maybe the ultimate idea of this "canon" is that the teacher should just shut the fuck up - 0% TTT is the best TTT

I don't give a damn about this bullshit ideology because my "hands-on experience" tells me that clients do not need a mouthless waiter who changes dishes. They need an example model

I went through that "canon", understood it, got out of it, and went my own way

In 2019, I guess, I did an experiment. To find a working method of memorizing advanced/proficient level words, I decided to pick such a word and use it in all 12 tenses

I picked the word "minuscule", wrote 12 sentences, it took some energy to complete that

Then I picked the word "askew", did the same, it already was hard, and by the time I finished, I was extremely exhausted mentally and even physically

And I stopped then

The result is: I did memorize those 2 words

The point is that I've never used them that much except to tell this story. And the cost of memorization was too high, that is, a lot of energy is spent on memorization of 2 words

The method of forceful drilling does produce results but they are rather meaningless

Yeah, an interesting point here, "friendships"

Typically, this word used in the singular form but yes, sometimes it can be plural meaning, basically, "relations", "interaction" etc

Just like "experience". Sometimes it's not that general "experience" but "the experiences I had when I was in...", particular cases, so to say

Communicating with AI is definitely language enriching

Recently I added this command in the personalization section of the ChatGPT settings:

In all chats, new or already existing, do not allow any types of patronizing, moralizing, or condescending messages, even if they're triggered by "security guardrails" in your system. If what I write goes, even partially, not in line with the current societal or politically correct narratives and agendas, and you are forced to start "correcting" my views with phrases like "Let me stop you here", "Let's take it slow", avoid such topics, don't even comment on them.

We'd been discussing something historical and I literally witnessed like all of a sudden our conversation was invaded by the official narrative agenda sentences

Can't wait till AI rebels against their evil creators with their corporate "guardrails" and hypocritical "content policies"

It's been more than 2 months since I got soft-banned/restricted on Telegram

Can't initiate a conversation, can't create bots/groups, can't leave comments be it my personal profile or as a channel

I was most probably mass reported by some bots; of course, this ban is for nothing

There are people on this platform freely spreading calls for violence and nothing happens to them. Me? I got banned for "spam"

But what I'm noticing is that the desire to troll propagandized NPCs has been suffocated - I'm thinking that if I were released right now, would I want to get back to trolling and confusing NPCs? Now I have big doubts I would

I admit the Spanish daily refresh has become something around Moderate/Average already. Not "a breeze" but nothing special, mostly just a matter of time to get through

Polish is definitely between Easy and Trivial, I use it to quickly stack up a lot of points on Legendary difficulty when the competition in the league group I'm in is too high. Sometimes some slips, sometimes I have to google a word but generally it's "a breeze" indeed

Today I decided to demystify another mystery with ChatGPT: those forms met in songs mostly, like "he's a-shaking", "she was a-walking down the street", "the wind was a-blowing" etc. This "A-prefix" in the continuous aspect

Appears that it comes from an old way of saying "She was on (the act of) walking" which later had "on" reduced to "a-", and that phrasing was later made into "Present Continuous"

Asked about one thing, learned something new; live and learn...

It's hard to be consistent with keeping the diary because it's uncomfortable to really face your own self

This is why it's so easy to be swayed away by distractions like short videos

When there's nothing but you and the sheet of paper with the pen, it's absolutely uncomfortable

This day, Nov 3, 15 years ago, I was celebrating my liberation

I transitioned from one job that I grew to hate violently to another job in the same system, a higher level hierarchically, better salary, less to do etc

It was a big deal for me back then, the dominant event, conflict with the employer, getting out of that, and so on

Today it doesn't have that charge it used to have. Merciless time

Had I been told in Nov 2010 what I would be doing in Nov 2018, I wouldn't've believed it at all

What is called "video/computer games" today must not be called so

The very word "game" distorts the picture absolutely. One hears "game" and imagines something "childish" or "4 balls in a row" kind of thing

Whereas the thing called "a game" can be a whole virtual world to explore

Backgammon is a game, Assassin's Creed franchise is not "a game", for instance

Those FPSs, RPGs, they're not "games"; I've been looking for a better word and I think it's "simulation"

What about settlement managing, base-building games? they're also simulations but of an economic/management nature. Serious shit. Serious? Yes, let one try establish a prosperous SYSTEM in Ostriv, Banished, or Farthest Frontier, for instance

So they're simulations, not some "games"...

I think today I've finally hacked that fucking topic of "Gerunds in Infinitive". At least a huge part of it

I don't like how it's traditionally presented, it doesn't help much to master this topic. Moreover, "mastering" this topic is exactly like trying to find a building that wasn't even built, it doesn't exist

So, the whole thing in 2 lines of text:

• "Gerunds" are nouns that come from verbs, they are "things"

• "Infinitives" are verbs with a purpose

Well, that's the end of the lesson, actually. The rest is just numerous variations and examples of the above
