Merry Christmas from the Society of Youth Empowerment (SYE)
This Christmas, while many around the world gather in joy, Cambodia is enduring immense suffering. Over half a million people have been forced to leave their homes, soldiers are risking their lives, and civilians including children are injured and traumatized. Families who should be celebrating together are instead struggling to survive.
SYE believes that Christmas is not only about celebration, but about compassion, solidarity, and hope. Our only wish this year is for Cambodia to have peace, for children to return to their classrooms, for families to live without fear, and for communities to rebuild with dignity.
Violence against civilians is inhumane. Bombing villages, schools, and homes destroys not only lives but the future of an entire generation. Cambodia deserves peace, and the world must not remain silent.
This Christmas, SYE calls on everyone to transform grief into courage, and courage into collective action. We will continue to empower youth, bridge communities, and advocate for peace. We believe that the next generation of Cambodians can grow up in a country defined not by war, but by compassion, opportunity, and unity.
Merry Christmas. May peace be our gift, humanity our strength, and hope our guiding light.
