El día en que Cristo es llevado como manso cordero al degüello parece haber llegado el triunfo del Adversario. Pero no es la hora del Mal, aunque él lo pretenda. Es la hora del Señor, en que las tinieblas son vencidas de una vez y para siempre. Es la hora del indecible amor de Jesús a su Padre y a nosotros, sus criaturas perdidas. Es la hora en que nuestro Padre Celestial ofrece a toda la humanidad el perdón de sus culpas y la salvación. ¡Es el día de la Redención; es el Viernes Santo!

On the day that Christ is led like a lamb to the slaughter, it seems as though the Adversary has triumphed. However, this is not the hour of the Evil One, even though he may claim it to be so. It is the hour of the Lord, when darkness will be vanquished once and for all. It is the hour of Jesus' ineffable love for his Father and for us, his lost creatures. It is the hour when our Heavenly Father offers all of humanity forgiveness for their sins and salvation. This is the Day of Redemption; this is Good Friday!

Holy Saturday... A day of mourning and anticipation. It seems as though the entire cosmos is shrouded in grief, weeping alongside the Mother of God. 'All you who pass this way, look and see: is there any sorrow like the sorrow that afflicts me?' (Lam 1:12).

Los acontecimientos del Jueves Santo nos trasladan a Getsemaní, aquel huerto que fue testigo de la más conmovedora plegaria de Jesús a su Padre en vísperas de su Pasión: «Padre mío, si es posible, aleja de mí este cáliz; pero que no sea tal como yo quiero, sino como quieres tú» (Mt 26, 39).
Por eso, al visitar este Lugar Santo, conviene pedir la gracia especial de aceptar el sufrimiento que se presenta en nuestro camino. On Holy Thursday, we are transported to Gethsemane, the garden that witnessed Jesus' most moving prayer to his Father on the eve of his Passion: 'My Father, if it is possible, let this cup pass me by. Nevertheless, let it be as you, not I, would have it' (Matthew 26:39).
When visiting this Holy Place, it is therefore fitting to ask for the grace to accept the suffering that comes our way. Hoy comienza el Tiempo de Pasión, que nos introduce con creciente intensidad en el misterio de la Cruz de Nuestro Señor y nos traslada espiritualmente al lugar más importante de la cristiandad: el Calvario y el Sepulcro del Señor. Tristemente, justo en estos días, la Basílica del Santo Sepulcro permanece cerrada a causa de la guerra. Por tanto, queremos compartiros un vídeo que, gracias a Dios, pudimos filmar allí el año pasado, para así peregrinar al menos virtualmente a este lugar santo mientras cantamos una y otra vez: «¡Kyrie eleison! ¡Señor, ten piedad!»

Today marks the beginning of Passiontide, drawing us ever more deeply into the mystery of the Cross of Our Lord and transporting us spiritually to the holiest place in Christendom: Calvary and the Lord's tomb.
