A society consisting of a random medley of races, religions and philosophies is most certainly not an expression of spiritual and cultural wealth, as it's often claimed today.
It's an absurd hotchpotch whose existence cannot be justified on any grounds, a certain indication of the imminent disintegration of the nation and the total dissolution of all norms and values.
Such a society is a degenerate parody of a true community and it cannot last, because the social loyalty between the various groups who temporarily happen to live on the same piece of land is broken by a far stronger spiritual loyalty towards religious & philosophical ideas that do not have their basis in the nation itself and its history.

Walter Model was one of Germany's most capable field marshals. Hitler favored him in crisis situations, which is why he was nicknamed "Hitler's fireman".
Wherever the front threatened to collapse, Model was dispatched to assess the situation and strike back.
Unlike generals such as Rommel or Guderian, Model was known for his moving defense. In the east, he held the cornerstone of the Eastern Front several times between 1942 and 1944. From June 6, 1944, he was also deployed in France and even held up the Allies for a while.
He took over the last major German offensive on the Western Front, the Ardennes Offensive.
He despised generals who were not present on the ground. Moreover, he was one of the few generals who successfully contradicted Hitler.
In April 1945, he refused to sign a surrender because it would not comply with his Prussian code. He allowed the youngest and oldest soldiers to return to Germany, then committed suicide.
