🌍 Day Two | AU–EU Summit Model 2026 🌍

Day Two of the AU–EU Summit Model 2026 was fully simulation focused, with delegates engaging in intensive negotiations, drafting sessions, and high level diplomatic exchanges that reflected real AU–EU processes. Participants worked collaboratively to refine positions, address differences, and advance shared priorities through structured dialogue and negotiation.

Throughout the day, the African Union and European Union committees continued work on a joint declaration. The ongoing discussions reflected a sustained commitment to consensus building, cooperation, and meaningful policy dialogue within the AU–EU framework.

We look forward to the Youth Declaration and the ideas it will bring ✍️

Day One of the AU–EU Summit Model  was fully simulation focused, with delegates engaging in intensive negotiations, drafting sessions, and high-level diplomatic exchanges that reflected real AU–EU processes. Delegates worked collaboratively to refine positions, address differences, and advance shared priorities through structured dialogue and negotiation.

The AU and EU blocs worked on a policy paper and presented it to the committee, demonstrating structured research, negotiation, and collaborative policy development. The process reflected the strong commitment of youth delegates to consensus-building, cooperation, and meaningful engagement on shared priorities.

A strong conclusion to Day One of youth-led diplomacy, highlighting the ability of young leaders to negotiate, collaborate, and deliver impactful outcomes for AU–EU cooperation.

MAU-E was invited to participate in a half-day American Speakers Program organized by OSA/USAU in Addis Ababa, titled “Promoting Peace and Security Through Negotiation.”

The program was graced by MS. Stacia George, Chief Engagement Officer at Global Reach, a negotiation expert with over 25 years of experience in working on global negotiations, peace building and governance.

MAU participants engaged in an immersive learning experience on interest-based negotiation, structured dialogue, and nonviolent conflict mitigation, bringing together students and young professionals in peacebuilding and diplomacy.

We appreciate OSA/USAU for the invitation and for creating a valuable space for learning and exchange.

MAU hosted the Saint Joseph Modeling United Nations Program / Interscholastic Conference 2026, convening the African Union Peace and Security Council to deliberate on “The Quest for Sovereign Maritime Access: Ethiopia, the 20 km Strip, and the Crisis of Regional Integration.”

Delegates engaged in focused and solution oriented discussions, examining Ethiopia’s pursuit of maritime access and its implications for peace, security, and intergovernmental cooperation. The deliberations emphasized diplomacy, preventive mechanisms, and African led approaches to addressing regional tensions.

The conference brought together students committed to multilateral dialogue and policy driven solutions, reinforcing the role of youth in advancing peace, security, and sustainable regional cooperation across the continent.

Today, Model African Union–Ethiopia youth and students gathered to commemorate the 32nd anniversary of the 1994 Genocide against the Tutsi in Rwanda, organized by the African Union Commission and the Embassy of Rwanda in Ethiopia.

Through powerful moments from the keynote by Mahmoud Ali Youssouf to the Walk to Remember we honored the victims and stood with survivors.

We will never forget the lives lost. Together, we remember, unite and renew Never Again.

The U. S. Mission to the African Union (USAU) invites the Model African Union (MAU) to a half day American Speakers Program in Addis Ababa titled “Promoting Peace and Security Through Negotiation.”

The program offers a practical and immersive learning experience focused on interest based negotiation, structured dialogue, and nonviolent conflict mitigation in fragile and conflict affected contexts. It is designed for students and young professionals interested in peacebuilding and multilateral cooperation.

We are selecting only 30 participants for this program.

We strongly encourage non Ethiopians, women, and youth to apply.

Interested participants should complete the Google form below by April 17 until 6 AM local time ( 12 PM EAT). Confirmed participants will be notified via email.
