One of the wonders of Surah Ar-Rahman is that it elaborates on Allah’s mercy toward His servants. Yet when speaking about Paradise, Allah says: “And for the one who feared the standing before his Lord are two gardens.” This serves as a reminder that even if a servant hopes for Allah’s mercy, that hope must be accompanied by fear.

This is similar to His statement in Surah Qaf: “Who feared the Most Merciful in the unseen” — that is, in this worldly life before seeing and meeting Him.

Reflect on it; by Allah, it is truly remarkable.

بسم الله

Imagine…
If your mother sought forgiveness for you…
Or your father…
Or your shaykh…
Or one of the righteous…

If it were Ibn Baz…
Or Ibn Uthaymeen…
Or Muhammad ibn Abd al-Wahhab…
Or Ibn Taymiyyah…

If it were al-Bukhari or Muslim…
If it were Ahmad ibn Hanbal or Malik ibn Anas…
If it were al-Hasan al-Basri or Ibn Sirin…

If it were Abdullah ibn Masud or Hudhayfah ibn al-Yaman…
If it were Abu Bakr or Umar…

By Allah, you would be satisfied with just one of them — so what if they all gathered?

How happy would you be?
How delighted would you feel?

Imagine if the Messenger of Allah ﷺ sought forgiveness for you…
Would once be enough?
Imagine if he repeated it seventy times…
How happy would you be?!

Imagine if all of them asked forgiveness for you…
Then Allah still did not forgive you!!

Could that be?!

What is this crime you committed
that would stand between you and Allah’s forgiveness?!

The best of creation seeks forgiveness for you.
The most beloved to Allah seeks forgiveness for you.

It is hypocrisy, my brothers…
It is hypocrisy.

Allah said:
“If you ask forgiveness for them — even seventy times — Allah will never forgive them.”

Do you know the seed of hypocrisy?

To make a covenant with Allah and then break it.

“And among them are those who made a covenant with Allah:
If He gives us from His bounty, we will surely give charity and be among the righteous.
But when He gave them from His bounty, they became stingy and turned away.
So He caused hypocrisy to remain in their hearts until the Day they meet Him — because they broke their promise to Allah and because they used to lie.”

Seek refuge in Allah from hypocrisy.
Read Surah At-Tawbah and learn their characteristics.
Strive against yourself.
Do not be deceived.

Ibn Abi Mulaykah said:
“I met thirty of the companions of the Prophet — all of them feared hypocrisy for themselves. None claimed the faith of Jibreel and Mikaeel.”

And al-Hasan said:
“No one fears it except a believer, and no one feels safe from it except a hypocrite.”
Recorded by al-Bukhari in his Sahih.
