Captain Saurabh Kalia was tasked to lead a patrol towards Bajrang Post along with five brave soldiers during the early days of the Kargil conflict.
After a fierce and continuous crossfire with the Pakistan Army, the patrol ran out of ammunition and was surrounded before being captured alive. They remained in captivity for nearly 22 days and endured brutal torture before attaining martyrdom.
Their sacrifice remains one of the most painful and unforgettable chapters in the history of the Indian Army.
India will never forget their courage, sacrifice, and love for the nation. 🇮🇳

NSG Commando | CISF
Deputy Commandant Manohar Singh Phogat, an elite NSG Commando and decorated CISF officer from Haryana, passed away on 13 May 2026 after battling prolonged illness following operational deployment.
Known for his courage, leadership, and calm professionalism, he served the nation with distinction in the National Security Guard and was widely recognised as the hero of Operation Sindoor. During the Uri border operation in 2025, he led his team against Pakistani drone threats and safely rescued over 250 civilians under extreme conditions.
A Gold Medalist Commando, a fearless officer, and a proud son of India — his dedication to the nation will forever inspire generations.
His final rites were performed with full military honours in his native village, Makrana, Haryana.

🔥 REMEMBERING A LEGEND 🇮🇳
Birth Anniversary of Rifleman Gabar Singh Negi, Victoria Cross 🏅
📅 21 April 1895 — Born in the hills of Tehri Garhwal, Rifleman Gabar Singh Negi joined the 39th Garhwal Rifles at just 18 and soon found himself on the Western Front during World War I. On 10 March 1915, during the Battle of Neuve Chapelle in France, his battalion was assigned the daunting task of capturing heavily fortified German trenches.
When his bombing party commander was killed, Negi instantly took charge. Leading from the front, he fearlessly advanced through enemy trenches, clearing each position with bayonet and bombs, forcing the enemy to retreat and surrender.
Amidst this fierce combat, he laid down his life at the age of just 19.
🏅 Awarded the Victoria Cross for his most conspicuous bravery.

📅 20 April 2018 — Along the Line of Control in the Sunderbani sector, Pakistani troops resorted to unprovoked firing, leading to an intense exchange of fire. Sepoy Charanjeet Singh of the J&K Light Infantry stood firm in the face of danger, responding with courage and determination during the fierce firefight.
In the line of duty, he sustained grievous bullet injuries and was evacuated to Jammu Military Hospital. After battling for three days with unmatched resilience, he succumbed to his injuries.

📅 19 April 1997 — During a high-risk cordon-and-search operation in Shopian, Jammu & Kashmir, Lance Havildar Som Lal of 11 JAK LI (on deputation with 1 Rashtriya Rifles) led from the front. Acting on precise inputs, he boldly entered a militant hideout through a window, fully aware of the danger inside. With unmatched courage, he neutralized one terrorist in close combat.
Moments later, another hidden militant opened fire, critically injuring him. Despite immediate evacuation and all medical efforts, this brave son of India succumbed to his injuries at the age of 35.
🏅 Awarded the Sena Medal for his exceptional courage and devotion to duty.

11 April — Ravinder Kaushik, one of India’s greatest undercover agents, is remembered for his unmatched courage and sacrifice in the shadows.
Born in Sri Ganganagar, Rajasthan, he was recruited by R&AW at a young age and trained to live under a new identity. Entering Pakistan as Nabi Ahmed Shakir, he rose to the rank of Major in the Pakistan Army and provided critical intelligence to India for years.
His information is believed to have saved thousands of Indian soldiers, making him one of the most successful spies in Indian history.
In 1983, his identity was exposed, and he was captured. After years of torture and imprisonment, he passed away in a Pakistani jail in 2001.
A hero who served silently…

On 5 April 2026, Sub Lieutenant Anshu Rathore, a 23-year-old officer of the Indian Navy, lost her life in a tragic road accident near Jamnagar, Gujarat while on her way to report for duty.
Hailing from Bithuda village in Nagaur district, Rajasthan, she had recently completed her training and was full of dreams to serve the nation. Coming from a proud military family, she became the first female officer in her lineage.
Her mortal remains were brought to her village, where she was laid to rest with full military honours.

On 5 April 2026, Lance Havildar Daljit Singh of the 21 Grenadiers made the supreme sacrifice after suffering a sudden heart attack while on duty in the Kupwara sector of Jammu and Kashmir.
A dedicated soldier, he served the nation with courage and commitment. He hailed from Thalodi Camp village, Vijaypur (Samba, J&K), and is survived by his wife, two children, and his family.
On 7 April 2026, he was laid to rest with full military honours, where his son lit the funeral pyre as thousands gathered to pay their final respects.
