There are several telltale signs. One is "buzzword-heavy language" such as: no fluff, total efficacy, this hits home, game-changer, next-level results. If there are one too many in a paragraph, it feels off, artificial even. Real English sounds less performed. AI tends to stack these expressions up.

Such a versatile word, my friends ✨

1) Informal: to break up with someone, often unpleasantly
👉🏼 I dumped Sarah last night when she insisted I use her pronouns of zer/zis.
👉🏼 I got dumped. I guess a man should never present a woman with foam and a razor... for her moustache.

2) Informal, normally used as a noun: to have a shit 💩
👉🏼 Please get out of the bathroom. I'm desperate for a dump.
👉🏼 I just had a dump. You might need a gas mask 😷
(Very gopnik 🗿)

3) Informal, noun: a messy nasty place:
👉🏼 London is such a dump these days!
👉🏼 Your flat is such a dump. When did you last clean it? I can't see the floor!

😍 Bonus: The City Dump. This is the place where you dump industrial waste, furniture etc. Anything too big to put into your household rubbish bins.

4) Semi-formal, verb: to get rid of something unwanted, typically in a careless or illicit manner (abandon/discard/throw)
👉🏼 Too many factories are dumping industrial waste into nearby rivers.
👉🏼 Using the city dump can cost an arm and a leg. So, some people dump old furniture on the side of roads instead. Of course it's illegal. We even have a word for this:
👉🏼 fly-tipping - which is a big problem in the UK.

4B) We can take the above meaning as a synonym of 'put' but much more informal:
👉🏼 Yeah Mr Ozon driver. I'm not at home. Yeah, just dump the parcel outside my front gate. I'll be home in an hour. Cheers!

We all know the word ATTITUDE such as
👉🏼 Some students have a crappy attitude towards learning
👉🏼 You need a more positive attitude to life, bitch!

But in aviation the word attitude has a totally different meaning. When the plane's nose is up or pointing down, we refer to this as the attitude. 🛫🛬

For 6 months I've been getting headaches on and off, but recently they've become so severe and constant in that even getting caked off my tits on pain killers does diddly squat. 😫

I have an MRI after class today (13k bloody rubles) to find out once and for all what's behind this pain in the neck, quite literally 😄

Many of you have studied with me in Cambridge or Speaking Club courses. I had a flipped classroom approach with heavy student autonomy with large class numbers. A lot of those approaches work but I'm tired of one particular aspect...

👉🏼 Large class sizes 👈🏼

My modular class yesterday had a small group, my Speaking Club today had 10 students present. I was able to interact much more, I was more engaged. I was able to support more. It was so refreshing making me realize what I miss... So I made a decision...

☝️🏼 From now on, I am capping my groups at 10 students max. I'll open more times, but I will 100% not allow more than 10 students per group. That's it. Done! It's good for students but much more meaningful for me to do what I'm best at; my job!!! I want to change my format ❤️

🇬🇧 PAINT JOB ✨

When you look at a vehicle (plane, boat, car, bike), some DIY project, where the paint/colours are used to upgrade, we use the word: PAINT JOB 🎨

✈️ Look at the picture above, it's (my favourite plane) Su-27 Flanker with such an awesome paint job to represent the acrobatics group "The Russian Knights."

🚗 My Bukhanka could do with a paint job of some sort. The Soviet green colour has faded and needs respraying.

🏠 Was looking at some flats to buy. There was a particular one where the owner wanted to spruce the place up a bit but did the most god-awful paint job in the bedroom: pink and black stripes with heart stencils all over the walls. Rather tacky. 🤔

🚽POINTLESS VOCAB 🚽

Hi guys! What you see in the picture is called a LATRINE. I have never heard a student ever use this word (and for good reason because it's not something we commonly use). It's a communal toilet often found in a camp or military barracks.

✍️ Why am I teaching you this? Because it's used in English when we want to exaggerate. For example:
👉🏻 I just had to cover all my vegetable patches in the garden because the village cats use them as a latrine! Sick of it.
(= doing their business in large quantities on my кинза, укроп, and руккола!!!!!☹️)

And this example is true!! Bloody cats!!!😭

🤔 DO YOU HAVE THE CLOCK FACE DIRECTION SYSTEM IN RUSSIAN (or your language)? ✍️

Hi guys! In the military or when piloting, when we want to state where something (or the enemy) is, we use the CLOCK FACE DIRECTION SYSTEM. Where I am looking/heading, that is MY 12 O' CLOCK. So naturally, behind me is my SIX O'CLOCK. If there is something (or the enemy) to my left, I'd say "Enemy, NINE O'CLOCK!" So what do you say in Russian?

You might know the expression "To have someone's back" (To protect/stand up for them). I can also say "I have your SIX (O' CLOCK)"😕

✈️ In aviation, you might get "BOGEY, SIX O' CLOCK HIGH (or LOW)" meaning enemy aircraft is above or below you.

🤧 BTW, Bogey isn't just козявка, it can also mean enemy or unidentified aircraft. ❤️

🤫 We can use these beauties as adverbs too:
👉🏼 Well, that trip to Magnet was completely and utterly pointless because all the shelves were empty.
👉🏼 Paul, please don't dance again. I've never seen something so completely and utterly awful as that! I beg you!

🐥 WANT TO BUILD A CHICKEN COOP 🥚

Hello guys! Yes, my project this summer is to build my own chicken coop for the garden and stuff it with 10 fine healthy chickens giving them names like: Nuggets, Burger, Schnitzel, Stir-fry, and Hot Wings etc🍗.
Love the idea of fresh eggs too 🪺

✍️ But of course some English comes out of this:
🇬🇧 TO BE COOPED UP
= to be stuck in a very small space for ages leading to restlessness

👉🏼 I can't imagine being cooped up in a one room flat with all my relatives. We'd murder each other after 5 minutes!

My loyal students know this but many of you don't:

👉🏼 When I started university in 1997 back in the UK (the city of Portsmouth which is the arse of England btw), I enrolled on German and RUSSIAN Studies. After 6 weeks I quit Russian saying "I'm never gonna bloody go there so what's the point?" and just concentrated on German 🤦‍♂️

Mind you, her sister, Sue, was on the razzle and got knocked up, it seems. She's almost a year old and will produce her first (and last) litter in mid March.

This expression is doing the rounds on social media where many people are referring to the huge surge in immigration into European countries, and cultural displacement. A lot of the locals are expressing their disapproval with this. You could use this in most contexts it seems.
