The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ said that no fatigue, illness, sorrow, or hardship afflicts a believer except that it removes some of their sins. So even in pain, there is purification.

Never underestimate the power of turning to Allah in dua.

Dua is more than asking—it is an act of worship, a deep connection between a servant and their Creator, and a source of hope when everything else feels uncertain. Even when you do not see immediate answers, Allah is always aware, always listening, and always responding in the best way.

Sometimes He gives you exactly what you asked for, sometimes He replaces it with something better, and sometimes He delays it for a wisdom only He knows. But in every case, nothing is ever wasted when you sincerely call upon Him.

Choosing a good Muslim spouse starts with looking beyond appearance and focusing on character and faith.

Prioritize someone with strong Deen (religion)—a person who prays regularly, fears Allah, and strives to improve their relationship with Him. Good manners and kindness are essential; the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ emphasized that the best among people are those with the best character.

Also consider compatibility in values, life goals, and emotional maturity. A good spouse respects you, communicates honestly, and handles challenges with patience. Family background and how they treat others can also reflect their character.

Make sincere dua and trust Allah’s guidance (istikhara). A good spouse is not perfect, but someone who helps you grow closer to Allah and brings peace to your life.

When you're going through a challenging time, there is a way to make it harder.

And there is a way to make it easier. Choose your focus. If you chose to focus on everything that's broken, the weight only becomes heavier. But if you shift your lens to focus on the blessings in the situation, the weight becomes lightened. There is always ease in every hardship. This is a Divine principle.

The people Allah sends to support you, the courage you find inside. The care of the people who love you. The wisdom that is born. The ability to get down on your knees and ask Him for help. To cry. To beg Him. These gifts are hidden in every difficulty.

Find it and celebrate it.
And it will grow.

That unanswered Du'a you have been making for so long, is not only turning the storm from your path, but could be so dear to Him that He keep wanting you to repeat until He decides to give it to you. So do not lose hope and keep pleading, as your Lord is listening with Love.

When you sit down to make Dua, when you ask Allah for something...

Don't ask Him for something mediocre, or even something that would just be "pretty cool" - ask Him for the absolute best.

He's Al-Kabeer - nothing is too big for Him. No problem is too big for Him to resolve. No desire is too big for Him to fulfill.

According to a Hadith Qudsi, Allah SWT says: "O My servants, if the first of you and the last of you, and the humans of you and the jinn of you, were all to stand together in one place and ask of Me, and I were to give everyone what he requested, then that would not decrease what I Possess, except what is decreased of the ocean when a needle is dipped into it."

Some of you may have entered Ramadan with a heavy heart.

You may have been disconnected from praying, reading Quran and going to the mosque all year so now you feel guilty and ashamed. You may have done things you’re not proud of, made repeated mistakes or lived heedlessly. You are so disheartened that you’re dragging yourself to simply fast and it’s hard for you to even comprehend the excitement others are feeling which leaves you feeling even more inadequate.

It’s ok. You don’t have to be over joyed. You don’t have to compete with others and you don’t have to be perfect. Simply take a small step forward. Simply make your intention to be better than you were yesterday and simply do something- anything that gets you even a little bit closer to Allah.

If you’ve been depleted all year, then this is your time to refuel. If you’ve been heedless, then this is your time to be mindful. If you’ve been disconnected, then this is your time to connect. Don’t allow your thoughts of inadequacy stop you from embracing this sacred month. Allah is the most forgiving and He will always welcome you no matter how far you have transgressed, how many bad deeds you’ve done and how hopeless you feel.

Feel comforted that you simply need to take that first step with the right intention and before you know it, you will soon feel the sweetness of faith.

This is the month of HOPE! Come as you are, do what you can and trust that you can get back on track!

I wanted something so badly.

I kept praying for it, but every time I did, I would say to myself, "God knows how much I want this, so He probably won't give it to me because I want it so much."

And then one day I realized: God says, "I am as My servant thinks I am." Why would He give me what I want when all I'm thinking is about how much He wouldn't? How little did I think of AlKareem, The Generous?

The Prophet ﷺ said, ”Ask Allah with certainty that He will answer your prayers.” (Tirmidhi)

And he ﷺ reassured us, "“Verily your Lord is Generous and Shy. If His servant raises his hands to Him (in supplication) He becomes shy to return them empty.” (Ahmad)

It might not come in the same way we want it- maybe it will! Maybe it'll be better, or maybe we'll get it in the Hereafter or perhaps something evil will be prevented and averted from us because of our prayer. But in all those scenarios there is one common factor: God will answer. And His answer will be always be good.

I went back to begging God to grant it to me, but this time, I was fervently certain that He would. As the months went by, as one year merged into the next, every time a doubt would enter my heart, I cast it away, I screamed at it and I would say: He HAS to answer. He WILL answer. This is Al Mujeeb! The One Who responds! Al Wadud- The Loving!

And you know what? He did. And in a way of and a timing which was beyond my wildest hopes and dreams.

Don't be afraid to make hard choices.

❝Then when you have taken a decision, put your trust in Allah, certainly, Allah loves those who put their trust (in Him)❞ {Surah At-Talaaq 65: Verse 3}

Life is filled with moments that require us to make difficult decisions. These choices often test our courage, challenge our values, and push us outside our comfort zones. It's natural to feel apprehensive when faced with tough choices, but it's important to remember that these moments of decision-making can be pivotal in shaping our lives.

Making hard choices is not synonymous with making wrong choices. In fact, it is often the hard choices that lead to personal growth, resilience, and a deeper understanding of ourselves. They force us to confront our fears, confront our limitations, and step into the realm of uncertainty. It is within this realm that we discover our true potential and develop the strength to overcome obstacles.

There will come a day when the road you’re walking will abruptly split into two.

Each one will call out to you in no uncertain terms, saying, “Walk towards me.”

One road is built out of fear. One out of hope.
No GPS in existence is going to tell you which road to take.

The road called Fear will grab at you. It will play and replay every possible thing that will go wrong if you don’t listen. It will write you letters and sonnets about the hurts that lie in the path of the other road.

It will remind you of every past heartbreak.

“I’m the safer path,” it will scream. “Don’t be naïve. Hope will only lead to disappointment.”

You will almost believe it.

But before you take that first step into Fear, you will glance over at the road called Hope. It is quieter. It does not terrify or taunt. It does not need to write you a letter explaining why it’s the better choice. It does not need essays and dissertations and Ted Talks.

“It’s okay to try again,” it will whisper. “Your Lord’s Light dispels all darkness, no matter how great.”

And your heart will be pulled, soothed, opened.

Yes, there will most certainly come a day when you are asked to choose a new path. And at the precipice of this choice, I pray you will hear that whisper and remember: Hope in Allah is never a mistake.

What has passed us was not meant to befall us and what has befallen us was not meant to pass us. Assistance comes with patience, relief after affliction and ease after difficulty. Our faith and belief is tested when we undergo difficulties and afflictions.

These difficulties may be physical, emotional, financial and/or psychological. This is borne out by the following verse: “Verily We will test you with some fear, hunger, and loss of wealth, life or the fruits (of your labor.” (Qur’an, 2:155)

My hope and trust are in Allah alone.

As He allows my skin to naturally heal itself with clotting blood, He will also allow my heart to heal. It is no matter that there will always be a faint scar there. The scar teaches me to never forget how He has healed me.

As He brings the night and day into being, as He causes the sun and moon to continuously exchange places each day, He will also cause my life to run its course exactly as it was meant to. I will never lose anything I was meant to hold. I will never hold anything I was meant to lose.

As He causes the earth to die, to be starved, to be deprived of any meaningful life, and then brings it back to lushness and beauty simply by saying “Be”—so, too, will He cause my body to die and disintegrate in the soil then raise me up and cause me never to die again.

When I placed my hope in people, they betrayed that hope. They took from me something that wasn’t theirs to take. They injured that which was once healthy in me.

When I place my hope in Allah, I know that He will never betray His promise. He will return to me what I have lost, or better. He will heal my heart that has been struck open by the people.

So I say: I am satisfied with Allah as my Lord, Islam as my faith, and Muhammad (saw) as the final prophet.

Only when this verbal statement of satisfaction truly enters the heart will it be able to heal.

It is only absolute hope and trust in Allah, the Eternal Refuge, which causes the pain to subside.

Trust in Allah. You may be in a lot of pain right now and going through many hardships, but hold on to Him, be patient, and remain grateful to Allah. Be optimistic and remember His promises.

Allah promises ease after hardship: "For indeed, with hardship [will be] ease." (Qur'an 94:6)

He assures us that He will not burden a soul beyond its capacity: "Allah does not burden a soul beyond that it can bear..." (Qur'an 2:286)

He also promises that those who are patient will receive a great reward: "Indeed, the patient will be given their reward without account." (Qur'an 39:10)

Tawakul: Trusting in Allah’s SWT Plan

In Islam, Tawakul is the beautiful concept of placing complete trust and reliance on Allah SWT in all aspects of life. It’s about having faith that, after putting in our best efforts, the outcome is always in Allah’s SWT hands and is for our ultimate good, even if we don’t see it immediately.

Tawakul doesn’t mean sitting back and doing nothing; rather, it’s about balancing effort and trust. We work hard, make decisions, and strive toward our goals, but we also acknowledge that Allah SWT is the best planner. When faced with challenges, Tawakul reminds us to stay patient and hopeful, knowing that whatever happens is part of Allah’s divine wisdom.

Here are some relevant ahadith:

1. Hadith about tying the camel:

This hadith, narrated by Imam Tirmidhi (may Allah be pleased with him), tells the story of a Bedouin man who was about to leave his camel without securing it. The Holy Prophet ﷺ asked him, “Why don’t you tie down your camel?” The Bedouin responded, “I put my trust in Allah.” The Holy Prophet ﷺ then advised him, “Tie your camel first, and then put your trust in Allah.”

2. Hadith Qudsi on Allah's relationship with His servant:

Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) reported that the Holy Prophet ﷺ said: “Allah the Almighty said: I am as My servant thinks I am. I am with him when he makes mention of Me. If he makes mention of Me to himself, I make mention of him to Myself; and if he makes mention of Me in an assembly, I make mention of him in an assembly better than it…” (Hadith Qudsi).

May we all cultivate true Tawakul in our hearts and find peace in the knowledge that Allah SWT is always looking after us through the waseela of His Beloved Holy Prophet ﷺ. Aameen.
