🎙What do you usually do in your free time to unwind?

To be honest, I'm a big fan of just getting lost in a good book or watching a movie after a long day. It really helps me to switch off from work. But if the weather is nice, I’d much rather go for a walk in the park or meet up with a couple of friends for coffee. I think it’s all about finding that balance between staying active and having some 'me time'

2️⃣Common mistakes students make:

"Number" "Amount" "Quantity"- These are three words that are confusing for many students.

"Number"- is used before countable nouns
"Amount"- is used before uncountable nouns
"Quantity"- is used before both countable and uncountable nouns, but only things not people

Examples:

We use a huge amount of paper in the office every day.

I have a number of things I want to talk to you about.

To improve your reading, you should read large quantities of books in English. (countable)

Fast food companies produce huge quantities of unhealthy food. (uncountable).

The difference between "The number of+noun" and "A number of+noun":

"the number of+noun" - is followed by a singular verb;
"a number of+noun"- is followed by a plural verb;

Examples:

The number of athletes from Uzbekistan who have won medals in Paris 2024 is thirteen.

A number of students from my IELTS course are taking their exam soon.

"Number" and "Amount" can also be used as a VERB. "Number" does not change, but "Amount" becomes "Amount to something (phrasal verb)"
