Although you have never studied computing, you have always been interested in computers. You buy magazines about them, and you have taught yourself many skills on computer at home. You have just read about a computer course that really interests you, but is only for people who have studied computing at college or university.

Dear Enrollment Officer/Madam

I am particularly interested in enrolling in the computer course which is being offered at your college. I noticed the advertisement in the loyal newspaper, and I noted that the course is for those who have formal training in computing at college or university level.

I have done any formal study in computing. I am writing to ask if you would make an exception to your course entry requirements based on my background reading and the level of computer skills I have developed.

Computers are my passion and I have built up an extensive computer reference library. I subscribe to several computer magazines. I have taught myself all major computer languages. I am familiar with most computer software applications for word processing, spreadsheets and databases, as well as websites.

I am available for an interview, as well as a placement test so that I can demonstrate both my knowledge and skills.

This year I am doing maths and physics at school and I hope to do well in my exams. However, I really don't know which university to apply to, so could you send me some information about different colleges? Also, can you find out what qualifications I need, please? For instance, as an overseas student, do I have to take an English test?

I hope you don't mind doing this for me. It is much better to get this information from someone who lives in the country, so I hope to hear from you soon.

I am writing to apologise for not completing my project on Information and Technology. I am extremely sorry for not meeting the deadline you set and realise that the delay will cause you a lot of inconvenience.

Unfortunately, I had domestic problems to deal with recently. My mother is currently recovering at home after a major operation and I need to look after her.

In view of this, I would be very grateful if you could allow me to have more time to complete this important assignment. Ideally, I require an additional week so that proofread it and check my references. I also need to write my conclusion but as I have already managed to prepare the outline of the summary. It should not take too long.

Once again, I regret this extremely unfortunate delay but hope to submit it by the end of next week.
