Well, someone in my family who really filled me with pride is actually my younger sister. Even though she’s younger than me, there was a particular moment not too long ago when she did something that truly impressed me.

If I recall correctly, this happened last year when she decided to participate in a national academic competition at her school. It was quite a demanding challenge because the competition involved several difficult stages, including written exams and presentations. What amazed me the most was that she prepared for it almost entirely on her own. She was incredibly disciplined and went the extra mile to improve her knowledge and skills.

For weeks, she followed a very strict routine, studying after school, reading additional materials, and constantly refining her understanding of the topics. There were moments when she felt exhausted or discouraged, but she never really backed down from the challenge.

Eventually, all that dedication led her to reach a major milestone. She ended up winning second place in the competition. When my family heard the news, we were absolutely thrilled. But what made me feel proud wasn’t just the result itself. It was the maturity, determination, and independence she demonstrated throughout the whole process.

In fact, seeing her handle such a demanding situation at a young age left a lasting impression on me. It reminded me that age doesn’t necessarily define capability, and it motivated me to raise my own standards and approach my goals with the same level of commitment.

Well, one film that immediately comes to mind is a movie I watched a couple of months ago called The Flash. I’d been looking forward to it for quite a while, mainly because I’m a big fan of superhero films and the trailers made it look incredibly exciting and visually spectacular.

If I remember correctly, I watched it one weekend with some of my students. We’d actually planned a movie night, so we were browsing through different options on a streaming platform, and this film kept popping up. Since it had generated a huge amount of hype online, we thought it would be a safe bet and decided to give it a shot.

However, much to my disappointment, the film didn’t really live up to my expectations. The biggest issue, at least from my perspective, was that the storyline felt all over the place. It tried to introduce too many plot twists and parallel timelines, which made the whole narrative quite hard to follow. At certain points, it almost felt as if the film had lost its sense of direction.

Another thing that slightly ruined the experience was the visual effects. Considering the film had such a massive budget, I expected the CGI to be top-notch, but in reality some scenes looked surprisingly unfinished and artificial.

Looking back on it now, I think what made the disappointment even stronger was the fact that my expectations had been set incredibly high. Had I gone into the film with lower expectations, I probably wouldn’t have been as critical. That being said, it wasn’t a complete waste of time. It still had a few entertaining moments, but overall, it definitely fell short of what I had hoped for.

My first computer delivered IELTS result is out, and I’m happy to share that I scored an impressive 8 in Speaking.
Although my Reading score was not as high as I expected this time, I believe this was partly due to a lack of proper sleep before the exam. Unfortunately, I could not sleep well the night before and felt a bit dizzy on exam day, which may have affected my performance.
This experience reminded me how crucial healthy sleep habits are for exams and overall well being. I am now considering taking a one-skill retake for Reading.

Alhamdulillah! I have some very happy news to share. After my previous result, I took a One Skill Retake for Reading, and today I’m proud to say my Reading became 8.5, which brought my overall IELTS score to Band 8.0!

Listening 8.0
Reading 8.5
Writing 7.0
Speaking 8.0

For a long time, I was stuck at 7.5 overall, and being 0.5 away from Band 8 again and again was not easy. As a teacher, I truly wanted to reach this score myself. There were moments of doubt and frustration, but I didn’t give up. This journey taught me that success does not always come quickly, sometimes it comes from patience and persistence. Now I feel more confident than ever in what I teach! I will continue sharing speaking model answers and helping you aim higher with real test experience. I am also opening new offline groups soon for serious students who want to improve. If you are still 0.5 away from your goal, don’t stop! Sometimes that 0.5 is not about ability, it is about timing. Let’s keep moving forward together! 🚀
