Your Accounts Are Only As Strong as the Habits Protecting Them

Most breaches don't involve sophisticated hacking. They happen because a password from an old breach is still in use, or because the same login was reused across a dozen sites, and one of them got compromised.

1. Check if you're already exposed. Go to http://haveibeenpwned.com/, enter your email address, and it'll tell you exactly which breaches included your data. Free, takes 30 seconds.

2. If you're reusing passwords anywhere, the fix is a password manager. Check out options like Bitwarden or 1Password. Both generate strong, unique passwords and store them securely, you only ever remember one.

3. For 2FA, use an authenticator app rather than SMS codes where possible. SMS can be intercepted through SIM swapping attacks.

4. You don't need to fix everything tonight! Pick one thing and do just that. One step each day is infinitely better than zero.

Recent events in Washington, on Wall Street, and in Iran raise many questions—about energy prices, supply chains, and unipolar bullying, among other things—but they also highlight central bankers’ accelerating efforts to build an airtight financial control system. Gold remains an important part of the story.

I am pleased to welcome Andy Schectman to the Solari Report for the first time. Founder and owner of Miles Franklin Precious Metals (a leader in the international precious metals market since 1989) and Miles Franklin Media, Schectman is someone who grasps the dangers of financial transaction control and programmable money and is able to intelligently discuss precious metals investments with those risks in mind. He interviewed me on Miles Franklin Media in January.

Schectman and I begin by looking at the precious metals markets in the context of the war in Iran, discussing Iran as a point of “leakage” in the financial control system and a thorn in the central bankers’ side. Addressing the question that many people are currently asking about precious metals—“Should I buy now?”—we revisit the distinction between a core position and investment position. As the central bankers accelerate their push to implement complete financial transaction control, I and members of the Solari team have been making the rounds of state legislatures to support legislation that puts programmable money guardrails in place. Steve Patterson and Aaron Day join me to discuss the implications of fast-moving digital currency developments for the financial markets.

Patterson is a returning guest at the Solari Report, having joined me in late 2024 to discuss his excellent book, Hijacking Bitcoin: The Hidden History of BTC, which he co-authored with Roger Ver. He is also the host of the “big ideas” Patterson in Pursuit podcast, and founder of a research project to expose false paradigms. Entrepreneur, investor, and activist Aaron Day, head of the Daylight Freedom Foundation and host of the Aaron Day Show, uses his background in tech, healthcare, and finance to advocate for privacy and individual rights and to fight digital tyranny. Day was also a write-in presidential candidate in the 2024 elections.

In our discussion, we consider what the latest developments with Bitcoin, stablecoins, and asset tokenization mean for the financial markets. We also review the regulatory frameworks established by the 2025 GENIUS Act and likely to emerge from related regulations expected in late 2026 in the temporarily stalled-out CLARITY Act. Finally, we ask the question, “Who is really running this show?” and take a frank look at some of the probable players and networks.

Fortunately, my legislative rounds indicate that both citizens and legislators are starting to see the game and are stepping up their pushback efforts. There is a major education effort underway—we need all the help we can get, so we hope you will join the effort. In early November, Solari published my review of Iain Davis’s book, The Technocratic Dark State: Trump, AI, and Digital Dictatorship—a book I consider an absolute must-read.

Davis is an independent investigative UK journalist and author who publishes at his own wesbite as well as at other New Media outlets such as Unlimited Hangout. The Technocratic Dark State is his fourth book. As I wrote in my review, The Technocratic Dark State “provided so many penny-drop moments that I lost count of them.” For that reason, I was eager to do an interview with him to dive into some of his most critical insights.

Our discussion starts with how money creation relates to the “tech bros,” with Davis’s compelling argument being that the partnership between old-line money creators and Big Tech facilitates two important goals: the continuation of U. S. dollar hegemony and central control of the population. We also explore the concept of “interoperability,” a term I once wrongly dismissed as an empty buzzword.

From there, we take a look at the so-called Dark Enlightenment, consider the tech bros’ use of deception, and discuss features of the digital gulag, including digital IDs, as well as Davis’s ideas about how to resist.

On the topic of resistance, Davis fittingly ends his book with a useful reminder from 16th-century French philosopher and magistrate Étienne de La Boétie:

“Resolve to serve no more, and you are at once freed. I do not ask that you place hands upon the tyrant to topple him over, but simply that you support him no longer; then you will behold him, like a great Colossus whose pedestal has been pulled away, fall of his own weight and break in pieces.”

The global policy agenda is currently being implemented at the local level—through “smart city” planning, Agenda 2030 regulations, “rewilding” endeavors, and many more policies that infringe upon property rights, freedom of entrepreneurship, freedom of movement, and availability of food, water, and energy.

The upside is that the local level offers the best opportunity to effectively push back. But where to begin?

To answer that question, I invited Solari hero and frequent Financial Rebellion guest Reinette Senum to guide us through the ins and outs of local politics. Reinette is a former mayor, council member, and activist who is distinguished for her community service. Recently, at her Foghorn Express Substack, Senum wrote a number of important posts in a series she called “The Hill to Die On” covering the aggressive U. S. push by the Federal Communications Commission (FCC), Congress, and the White House to bypass local control and oversight over the placement of telecommunications infrastructure.

In this interview, Reinette takes us through the basic workings of local government, describing the “how to’s” of finding and tracking information, speaking effectively at public meetings, and mobilizing your fellow citizens. In addition, as illustrated by her personal example, she encourages people to influence their local government’s actions by getting elected themselves. By explaining the nuts and bolts and the myriad ways that you can get involved, she shows how to get local politics working for the people again.
