Project Iḥyāʾ presents this academic research paper as a systematic study of the recent fatwa by AMJA and FCNA permitting the allocation of Zakāt funds to political candidates. This work is not presented as a fatwa, but as an academic study of the application of Zakāt to the category of al-muʾallafa qulūbuhum, examined within the broader methodological trend of contemporary modernist fiqh, particularly maqāṣid-centered approaches and their impact on juristic reasoning. It offers a scholarly analysis of the ruling’s legal foundations, assumptions, and implications. Formal fatāwā have been issued by AFA and Dār al-Qāsim.
This study forms part of Project Iḥyāʾ’s broader research effort to examine contemporary methodological trends in modernist fiqh. It continues our earlier work critiquing similar tendencies, including our study on Mutʿah al-Ṭalāq and AMJA's marriage contract, and represents a further contribution to the analysis of this developing juristic trajectory.
The paper includes:
• A study of al-muʾallafa qulūbuhum across the four recognized madhāhib.
• An examination of attempts to analogize political candidates to this category.
• An evaluation of claims of taḥqīq al-manāṭ.
• A study of the condition of tamlik (legal ownership) in Zakāt and its absence in campaign financing.
• A discussion of the legal implications and potential consequences of the ruling.
An English version will be coming soon.

Flipping of gender roles is also part of "taghhyīru khalqi-llāh" (changing the creation of Allah)
﴿وَلَآمُرَنَّهُمْ فَلَيُغَيِّرُنَّ خَلْقَ اللَّهِ﴾
This quranic verse is often cited in the context of physical alterations to the human body.
However, its meaning may also extend more broadly to unnatural distortions of the natural order, including social and moral changes that contradict the divinely established balance.
Such as the inversion of normative roles between men and women.

Zakat: Are We Paying It or Playing with It? On Zakat Abuse, Fatwas, and Grifters
Assalamu alaykum wa rahmatullahi wa barakatuhu,
This podcast is a careful examination of zakat in practice today, including patterns of grift, instances of abuse, and the role that questionable fatwas can play in normalizing such practices.
It is shared for awareness, accountability, and thoughtful reflection, not as a blanket criticism of sincere zakat work.

It also contains many useful segments that can be used on their own. For example, this part on logical and empirical judgments (Aḥkām ʿAqliyyah and Aḥkām ʿĀdiyyah) works well as a standalone lesson.
It’s something most people don't know, and just understanding this distinction can help structure a person’s thinking and protect them from a lot of common doubts and confusions:

This course doesn’t assume any prior background. It starts from first principles and builds a culumative case step by step, so you come away with a solid foundation.
At the same time, we kept the language simple, because it was originally delivered to regular, everyday people. So it’s meant to be clear, approachable, and easy to follow, without getting lost in technical jargon.
We also had a few non-Muslims attend. One of them was a Jewish philosophy student who mentioned in the Q&A that he appreciated how the course laid out the principles on independent philosophical grounds and then built on them in a logical way. He contrasted that with his experience of Christianity, which he felt was often presented more in terms of personal experience, and said he found this approach more structured and intellectually satisfying.
It was just an interesting piece of feedback, and it reflected the kind of structure we were aiming for with the course.
