The Misguidance of the Shia Due to the Methodology of “Ijtihad/Marja'iyya is sufficient for us” - 1/2
Some Shia clerics, for example, weaken many narrations and hadiths. When this occurs, there is a clear deficiency in their source material, reasoning, and evidence related to virtues, historical events, battles, the era of occultation, the reappearance, etc. In these cases, they seek rulings from the religion of the Nawasib instead—while the Prophet (peace be upon him and his family) said: “The Book of Allah and the Ahlul Bayt.” This is not slander; many of these clerics admit themselves that they issue legal rulings from the Nawasib under the name of Shi’ism. They nullify many narrations about the Ahlul Bayt and resort to something else outside of what Allah commanded… Is this not a repetition of the methodology we discussed?! Is it not a form of foolishness, that someone weakens his religion and takes from the religion of his enemy?! Are the Qur’an and Ahlul Bayt not sufficient?!
The result: Some clerics, for example, claim ‘A’isha as “Mother of the Believers,” which is betrayal of Imam Ali (peace be upon him) and treachery, because they legitimize her despite her actions… They rely only on the Qur’an—by falsehood—and leave the narrations that clarify the truth. We do not want to diverge too far from the topic, but this relates to Maria al-Qibtiyya, not A’isha! They interpret her as the Nawasib do, with the “Book of Allah is sufficient” methodology… because they do not take the narrations that prove the nullification of the title “Mother of the Believers” from her, or about her divorce, or they weaken them or ignore them! Thus, they arrive at the same misguided result. Their methodology deviated from the path of “the Book of Allah and the Ahlul Bayt.”
And the idolizer followers of those turbaned figures validate everything that the marja’ or the sayyed or the sheikh says, everything he says whether it is a fatwa or even just an opinion is taken without any questioning, thinking, or accountability, and without presenting this speech to the Quran and the Prophetic Sunnah and the Ahl al-Bayt. But when it comes to the statement of the Prophet or the infallible Imam himself, the statement is placed under doubt and weighing, it may be authentic or weak. And the hadith or narration is rejected outright without any conscience. This is the methodology of “the marja’ is sufficient for us.”
From Abu al-Jarud, from Imam al-Baqir (peace be upon him), in a long narration describing Imam al-Mahdi (peace be upon him):
“…and he will march toward Kufa, from which sixteen thousand from the Batrīyah will come out, complaining with weapons, Qur’an reciters, scholars in religion, who have scarred their foreheads and hammered their marks, filled with hypocrisy, all of them saying: ‘O son of Fatimah, return! We have no need of you.’ He will place the sword upon them on the plains of Najaf on Monday evening, from Asr until Isha, and he will kill them faster than the ebbing and flowing of the tides. Not a single man will escape, nor will any of his companions be harmed.” (Dalā’il al-Imāmah)
