A True Believer Draws Closer to Allah by Dividing the Nation
And this is not a strife [fitnah] as some people think. When the nation, community becomes accustomed to falsehood and corruption, it becomes the dominant thing, and the nation becomes united upon distancing itself from the religion... It becomes natural that when the truth appears and is clarified, it appears as if it were a fitnah that tears apart the unity. Look at history with your own eyes. During the caliphate of the Commander of the Faithful, Imam Ali (peace be upon him), they said about him that his caliphate was full of problems and strife, and they did not see any good in his caliphate. The real reason was not the Imam, but because the Ummah had become accustomed to falsehood, so falsehood became dominant, falsehood became public opinion, so when Imam Ali (AS) showed and revealed the truth, the Ummah was bothered by it, revolted and went against him, they even declared him a disbeliever! This is also what happened with Imam Hussein (AS) for his resistance. The Nasibis and the Umayyad narrative said that the Imam rebelled and caused a fitnah, a division, he tore down the unity, while he could have pledged allegiance to Yazid. Look also at what came before this, at the history of the prophets. The nations were also united and cooperative but upon falsehood, and everyone was content and all matters were fine. When Allah sends a prophet, what is the reaction of the nation to which the prophet is sent? They will say, this tears the nation and community apart and contradicts the creed and ideas that we inherited from our forefathers.
Allah the Exalted said: {Humanity had once been one community, then Allah sent the prophets as bringers of glad tidings and warners, and He sent down with them the Book in truth so that it may judge between the people concerning that in which they differed.} - Al-Baqarah 213
{Allah would not leave the believers in the state you are upon until He distinguishes the wicked from the good.} - Aal Imran 179
{And We certainly sent to Thamud their brother Salih, saying, ‘Worship Allah,’ and then they became two disputing factions.} - Al-Naml 45
Sadaq Allah al-Ali al-Athim… So from this perspective, when speaking the truth is considered a “fitnah” and “sectarianism” and something that tears unity apart, then all the prophets split the unity of the homelands and the nations to which Allah sent them. There is a nation, disbelieving, worshipping idols, committing adultery and immoral acts and oppression, and this ideology is the prevailing ideology with no deterrent at all. Then Allah sends a prophet who calls for Allah and His worship to reform this people and for them to be guided. Some of them believe and some of them persist in defiance, and the defiant fights those who believe. From here the nation splits, and one hates the other, and conflicts arise between them, and it may reach the point that this one kills that one, and this one imprisons that one, and a brother curses his brother, and his mother and his father, and a friend turns against his friend. And the state comes, like Pharaoh for example, and encourages Pharaonic national unity even though he and those with him know their tyranny, disbelief, and corruption, and despite knowing the truth after they had seen it, in order to preserve rule and authority and what they had become accustomed to, of status, power, wealth, and acceptance from the people.
If the word of truth does not cause division, then it is not the truth! Ali is with the truth and the truth is with Ali! And Ali is the divider of Paradise and Hell! Therefore, the truth divides!
So division upon the truth is better than unity upon falsehood!
