A Ghanaian businessman who supplied ready-made fish meals to UK supermarkets was caught storing the fish in his bathtub and on the bathroom floor next to the toilet.
Firefighters discovered the fish while responding to a fire at Stephen Akuokoโs flat in Watford, according to Watford Borough Council and court records. Akuoko, 62, pleaded guilty to two food safety offences.
A judge at St Albans Crown Court called the meals โunfit for human consumptionโ and sentenced him to a two-year suspended prison term plus a five-year ban from operating any food business.
