Spanish, English, and Arabic — More Connected Than You Think
English:
Many learners are surprised to discover how close Spanish is to both English and Arabic.
Spanish shares thousands of words with English due to their Latin roots:
information – información
important – importante
social – social
Spanish also absorbed hundreds of Arabic words during 800 years of Arab presence in Al-Andalus:
azúcar (sugar) – السكر
aceite (oil) – الزيت
algebra – الجبر
Spanish is not foreign.
It is familiar in disguise.

A Very Short History of the Spanish Language
English:
Spanish (Español) comes from Latin, the language of the Roman Empire.
After the fall of Rome:
Latin evolved differently across Europe.
In the Iberian Peninsula, it became early Spanish.
Later influences:
Arabic (science, agriculture, daily life)
French and Italian (culture and art)
Modern Spanish is the result of history, conquest, and contact — not complexity.

Is Spanish Really Easy? (Yes, and Here’s Why)
English:
Spanish is often described as one of the easiest languages to learn — and this is not a myth.
For English and Arabic speakers, Spanish offers a rare advantage: clarity.
Spanish is:
Phonetically consistent (you read what you see).
Grammatically logical.
Rich in familiar vocabulary.
Unlike English, Spanish spelling is stable.
Unlike Arabic, Spanish verb patterns are finite and predictable.
This makes Spanish an ideal first foreign language or a powerful third language.
