israel just committed a crime in European waters. It defies all morality—and respect for international law—that just days from now, the European Broadcasting Union (EBU) will welcome the perpetrator to whitewash its crimes before 50% of the European population.

Governments have a duty to protect their citizens. Inarguably, governments also have a collective obligation under international law to do everything in their power to protect people everywhere, and anywhere, from genocide.

This includes isolating perpetrators of war crimes at the cultural level and refusing participation in propagandistic efforts to scrub the face of genocide clean. Russia was banned from Eurovision over its invasion of Ukraine—a crime exceeded by the pariah state of israel many times over in scope, and in cruelty. The lack of moral consistency is glaring.

Fans, participants and broadcasters have a duty to act.

We welcome the news that Saif Abukeshek and Thiago Ávila are being released from illegal detention by the israeli regime in occupied Palestine.

Once again, people around the world have risen against this blatant injustice, generating public, political, and diplomatic pressure to demand their release.

We will continue mobilizing and raising pressure for the release of all Palestinian prisoners and political detainees.

We demand accountability for Israeli crimes and for all those complicit in them.

European governments: You have failed Palestine and your own citizens.

EU citizens are calling out their governments for failing to act in any meaningful way to oppose the ongoing genocide in occupied Palestine. It is precisely this moral failure, lack of action and total complicity that has pushed the participants of the flotilla to sail.

When European citizens were abducted by israeli forces in international waters, governments failed to act. When EU citizens were tortured in European waters, governments failed to act.

Our governments have a responsibility to protect their citizens, to uphold international law, and to free Palestine from occupation and genocide.

The core of the medical profession is the oath to preserve life and care for the sick, regardless of the circumstances. In Gaza, healthcare workers have demonstrated an unparalleled, heroic commitment to this oath.
