🎥 BBC-dropped documentary Gaza: Doctors Under Attack wins Bafta TV Award.

In his acceptance speech, executive producer, Ben De Pear called out the broadcaster, which had initially commissioned the documentary before shelving it, citing that airing it would create a “perception of partiality”.

The award-winning documentary, broadcast later by Channel 4, follows Palestinian health workers on the frontline amid Israel’s relentless targeting of hospitals and clinics in the Gaza Strip.

De Pear was joined on stage by journalist Ramita Navai, who said: “So far, Israel has bombed and targeted every single one of Gaza’s hospitals. It’s killed over 1,700 Palestinian doctors and health care workers. It has imprisoned over 400 in what the UN now calls the medicide.”

She added, that these are the findings that “the BBC paid for and refused to show.”

📰 Israeli soldiers said the army ordered troops to kill any man they encountered in Gaza during the genocide that began in 2023.

“A man, no matter what age, don’t play games with it; kill immediately,” one soldier said, describing the orders they received.

“They even told us that if it’s a woman or a child, use your judgment, because things happen,” he added, saying similar instructions were given regarding donkeys.

His testimony was given to Iris Haim, the mother of an Israeli captive killed by Israeli forces in Gaza, and aired on Channel 13’s investigative programme on Thursday.

In December 2023, Israeli soldiers killed three Israeli captives in Gaza City’s Shujaiya neighbourhood despite them being shirtless, waving a white flag and posing no apparent threat.

📰 For the last six weeks, the UK's Green Party has been the victim of a sustained smear campaign.

Leader Zack Polanski has been accused of being an antisemite, a liar, a fabricator and a hypocrite.

His supporters have been painted as crazed Islamists obsessed by foreign policy at the expense of day-to-day issues.

The smears have come from Labour, the Conservatives and Reform.

But it has also been led by sections of the British media, which went to the lengths of hunting down Polanski's distant relatives in order to discredit the Green Party champion as an antisemite.

Four national newspapers published cartoons of Britain's only Jewish leader, which have been widely criticised as antisemitic.

🎥 Protests erupted in Venice on Friday over Israel’s participation in the 2026 Venice Biennale, as this year’s event continues to be heavily impacted by political demonstrations.

The exhibition opened on Saturday without a jury after members resigned in protest over the participation of both Israel and Russia. In their resignation statement, they referenced the International Criminal Court arrest warrants issued for Russian President Vladimir Putin and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

Earlier this week, punk group Pussy Riot staged a protest at the Russian pavilion in opposition to Russia’s inclusion in the exhibition.

Palestinian activists have also used the occasion to commemorate artists killed by Israel in Gaza.

🎥 Palestinian journalist Ali al-Samoudi was released after a full year of administrative detention in Israeli prisons. He appeared in poor health, his appearance drastically altered due to severe weight loss and a deteriorating condition. Al-Samoudi was arrested from his home in Jenin, in the northern West Bank, in late April 2025, after Israeli occupation forces raided and searched his home.

In his first statement after his release, al-Samoudi described Israeli prisons as “a true hell and graveyards for the living.”
In an interview with MEE, al-Samoudi said that inside Israeli prisons "there is no medical treatment, no pens, no compassion, no books, no notebooks, no mirrors, none of the rights guaranteed by international norms and laws. There is an escalating, ever-increasing oppression that expands day by day.”

Green Party leader Zack Polanski said Britain’s two-party system was “dead and buried,” following his party candidate, Zoë Garbett’s win in the mayoral election in Hackney.

Garbett secured 35,720 votes to Labour’s 26,865. The victory ends 24 years of Labour control and makes Garbett the first Green mayor elected in the UK.

Polanski linked the outcome to dissatisfaction with traditional party politics during the cost of living crisis and pointed to Hackney’s diverse population as indicative of broader political shifts.

“Across London and the country, people have made it clear that they are desperate for an alternative to this failing Labour government,” she said. “It’s not old politics … versus new parties. This is about a system of fear versus a movement of hope.”

She said her priorities would include tackling inequality and improving services for residents, including migrants, disabled people, trans people and young people.

📰 Israel's National Security Minister Itamar Ben Gvir was pictured rejoicing in the passing of a controversial bill that would allow the execution of Palestinian prisoners.

The far-right minister, who has largely championed the legislation, was seen celebrating its approval by drinking and serving alcohol to members of the Israeli parliament.

The Knesset approved the bill in its last readings on Monday with 62-48 vote in favour, despite international pleas to "abandon" the ruling.

"This is a day of justice for the victims and a day of deterrence for our enemies. No more revolving door for terrorists, but a clear decision. Whoever chooses terrorism chooses death," Ben Gvir said, sporting the golden noose-shaped pin symbolising his campaign calling for the execution of Palestinian detainees.

Giuliani made the outburst in an interview on British journalist Piers Morgan's YouTube show on Monday, while arguing in favour of the US-Israeli war on Iran.

"I have people from England telling me you're gonna be a Muslim country in 10 years," he told Morgan.

📰 Syrian President Ahmed al-Sharaa met British Prime Minister Keir Starmer in Downing Street on Tuesday morning, on his first trip to London.

The landmark meeting reflects the enormous shift in UK-Syria relations since the fall of longtime autocrat Bashar al-Assad in December 2024.

Sharaa was previously head of Hay’at Tahrir al-Sham (HTS), a rebel coalition that ousted Assad and was until recently a British-designated terrorist group.

Sharaa himself is a former member of al-Qaeda, which remains a proscribed terrorist organisation in Britain.

In July, Britain fully re-established relations with Syria, 14 years after severing ties with Assad's government. Starmer's government then de-proscribed HTS the following October.

📰 The US is only certain it has destroyed around a third of Iran's missiles, despite comments from President Donald Trump boasting of military success.

According to five people familiar with the US intelligence who spoke to Reuters, the status of around another third is less clear. However, US-Israeli strikes have likely damaged, destroyed or buried those missiles in underground tunnels and bunkers.

Iran's drone capability has also likely been reduced by a third, another source said.

The assessment, which comes one month after the beginning of the US-Israeli assault on Iran, suggests Tehran still retains substantial missile capability and its ability to retaliate is far from eliminated.

At a cabinet meeting on Thursday, Trump said - while discussing options to open the Straits of Hormuz - that 99 percent of Iran's missiles had been destroyed.

📰 The US and Israel are "burning through" their supply of Tomahawk and interceptor missiles in their war on Iran, alarming some in the Pentagon.

According to officials speaking to the Washington Post, the US has fired more than 850 Tomahawk cruise missiles in four weeks of its war with Iran.

Only a few hundred of the cruise missiles are manufactured each year and while the Pentagon does not publicly disclose its numbers, one official told the news outlet the number of Tomahawks left in the Middle East is “alarmingly low”.

Tomahawks can travel more than 1,000 miles, which allows the US military to hit targets in Iran without sending pilots into a hostile airspace.

However, the shrinking supply of Tomahawks is likely to increase speculation about a proposed ground operation into Iran, after the air campaign and killing of senior leaders failed to dislodge the Islamic Republic.

📰 A bill “aimed at combating renewed forms of antisemitism”, which is due to be debated on by parliament next month, has sparked a heated controversy in France in recent weeks.

Many organisations and parts of the political left suspect the proposed legislation of exploiting the fight against antisemitism to censor and criminalise criticism of the Israeli government.

“These renewed forms of antisemitism - calls for the destruction of Israel and its comparison to a Nazi regime - are taking root in people’s minds with complete impunity,” the bill’s explanatory memorandum states.

Approved by a narrow majority of the National Assembly’s Law Committee on 21 January, the bill is expected to be debated on 16 and 17 April. The government, which supports it, initiated an expedited procedure for its adoption.

📹 Diana Abadi, a 57-year-old cat shelter owner from Beirut’s Dahiyeh, was displaced after Israel began heavily striking the southern area of the Lebanese capital. Abadi recounts how she fled with dozens of rescued cats.

Abadi said that when she woke to the sound of bombings and saw people fleeing the neighbourhood, she refused to leave her cats behind, and carried them down from her shelter two by two, managing to evacuate about 33 cats in the car. She said: “I left everything behind except the cats, with two bags of litter and two bags of food.”

“I don’t know how God gave me strength, or how I was even able to stay on my feet,” she added.

The latest Israeli air and ground assault has killed more than 1,000 people in Lebanon and displaced a million.

📰 Jawad Abu Nassar, a 21-month-old Palestinian child, was returned injured to his family 10 hours after he and his father were detained by Israeli forces.

Medical reports reviewed by Middle East Eye said the toddler’s wounds were not caused by shrapnel or gunfire, but were consistent with cigarette burns and a sharp object injury.

An Israeli military spokesperson rejected the allegations as “completely unfounded”, saying the child received care before being handed to the Red Cross.
