A report by The Wall Street Journal says Israel secretly built a military outpost in the Iraqi desert before launching its aerial campaign against Iran.
According to the report, the base served as a logistics and rescue hub for the Israeli Air Force and housed Israeli special forces. Iraqi troops who reportedly approached the area after suspicious activity was spotted were allegedly pushed back by Israeli airstrikes. Open-source intelligence analysts later claimed they identified the suspected site using satellite imagery, pointing to a makeshift airstrip built in a dry lakebed around 180 kilometers southwest of Karbala shortly before the war began.
First footage from the crash site near Be’er Sheva shows a large fire burning in the Neot Hovav industrial zone following an Iranian ballistic missile attack.
Rescue services confirmed the impact caused significant fire in the area, but no injuries have been reported so far.
Emergency teams are on the scene as authorities assess the damage.

Pope Leo delivered a rare and forceful message, saying that God rejects the prayers of leaders who wage war and have “hands full of blood,” as the Iran war enters its second month.
“Even though you make many prayers, I will not listen: your hands are full of blood,” he said, adding that Jesus “cannot be used to justify any war.” The pope did not name specific leaders but has recently increased his criticism of the ongoing conflict and called for an immediate ceasefire.

IDF Spokesperson:
Throughout the night, the IDF struck ballistic missile production sites and air defense systems across Iran.
In strikes carried out throughout Tehran, the IDF targeted infrastructure and facilities used by the regime for the production of weapons, with an emphasis on ballistic missile manufacturing sites.
In western Iran, the Air Force, guided by Military Intelligence, struck throughout the night at the fire arrays of the Iranian terror regime. Among the targets attacked were launchers and missile storage sites that pose a threat to the State of Israel.
The IDF continues to operate relentlessly to damage the regime’s ballistic missile array, with the goal of reducing the scale of fire directed at Israeli civilians.
