🧳 WHAT TO PACK FOR A TRIP? ✈️
Tomorrow we’re flying to Japan, so today I’m packing my suitcase.
Over the years, I’ve developed a simple system: take everything you need and forget nothing. Sharing it with you ✨
Passports, visas + scans in the cloud 📄☁️
Yes, Captain Obvious — but almost everyone I know has been in at least one situation where:
— the visa had expired
— turns out that visa doesn’t allow what you thought it did
— something wasn’t checked in advance
It’s better to triple-check at home than fly 11 hours each way for nothing.
Cloud scans are for absolute emergencies — and yes, they really can save you 🙌
Bank cards: Visa / Mastercard / AmEx 💳
Why all of them?
Because abroad, a bank can suddenly block a card — and trying to reach customer support when it’s 2 a.m. back home is… a quest 😅
A backup option = a calm nervous system 🧘♀️
Cash 💵
Always. Even in a super-megacity like Tokyo 🏙
Tips, small purchases, unexpected situations — cash still solves problems fast.
Charger + country adapter 🔌
After a 10-hour flight, the last thing you want is to hunt for a charger while your phone is dying 📱
Check in advance. Buy in advance. You’ll thank yourself later.
Charger: regular + USB + USB-c (for the plane) 🔋
Because you never know what aircraft you’ll end up on.
And upon arrival, you may urgently need maps, a taxi, or internet — and suddenly your phone is dead 🗺🚕
Medications 💊
A basic kit:
— fever and pain relief
— food poisoning / diarrhea meds
— laxatives
— sleep aid
— band-aids, antiseptic
— antihistamines
If you have prescribed medications — start with those.
There’s nothing worse than searching for a pharmacy in an unfamiliar country and finding out your medication is prescription-only 😩
Manicure kit 💅
Not for perfect nails.
One hangnail can turn a couple of travel days into hell. Tested.
Multi-tool knife 🔧
With screwdriver, pliers, and everything else — checked luggage only.
Sometimes you urgently need to open something, fix something, or replace batteries.
Clothing 👕
A simple rule:
first the itinerary, then the wardrobe.
For example:
— hiking 🥾
— a couple of restaurants 🍽
— lots of walking 🚶♀️
That means:
— activewear
— a few nice outfits for going out
— hiking clothes
Maximum mix-and-match pieces.
And NEVER take brand-new shoes on a trip 👟
What to wear on the plane ✈️
Imagine that:
— someone spills hot coffee on you ☕️
— then drops a Greek salad with olive oil and lemon juice 🥗
— steps on your foot
— and rubs their suitcase all over you
What would you want to be wearing in that situation?
Hint: not white sneakers and not a $1,000 designer T-shirt. 😅
Walking bag 🎒
Spacious, comfortable, and secure.
It should fit:
— documents
— money
— sunglasses, a cap 🕶🧢
— a water bottle 💧
— maps and souvenirs 🗺
This won’t fit into a tiny handbag.
Think about it in advance — and you won’t end up carrying ten shopping bags.
Everything’s packed. I think I didn’t forget anything ✅
