The important question now is not whether demand exists, but how resilient that yield stays once leverage unwinds and funding conditions normalize.

A lot of DeFi growth over the last year was built on synthetic dollar demand. The projects that survive this cycle will be the ones that can maintain usage even when the easy carry trade disappears.

What stands out in https://defillama.com/ right now is how much value the top apps are actually returning to token holders. Hyperliquid, edgeX, and Pump Fun distributed more than $100M combined over the last 30 days, and all three products are still relatively young.

Crypto still rewards distribution and execution speed faster than almost any other industry. Some of the highest cash-flowing applications in the sector did not even exist three years ago.

On-chain usage slowed, but sentiment moved the opposite direction and is now the most bullish it has been since January.

Traders are positioning for a catch-up move after months of underperformance versus Bitcoin, but the next leg probably depends on whether network usage stabilizes instead of just social sentiment running ahead of fundamentals.

Stablecoins stopped being a payment feature a while ago.

What is forming https://a16zcrypto.com/posts/article/global-finance-stablecoins-new-stack/ more like a parallel financial stack built around wallets, FX, credit, and settlement rails that run globally and stay online 24/7.

Whoever controls licenses, banking access, and liquidity corridors controls distribution. The real unlock is not faster payments, it is global dollar access for users and businesses that never had direct access to the U. S. banking system in the first place.

Bitcoin is no longer trading in isolation, and the https://www.coinglass.com/pro/i/bitcoin-correlations data makes that clear.

Its relationship with equities has stabilized around 0.4–0.6 since 2020, while gold recently flipped sharply negative, breaking the old “digital gold” narrative.

This shift lines up with ETF-driven flows, where BTC is increasingly positioned inside macro portfolios alongside risk assets. Bonds still show weak correlation, so Bitcoin is not a hedge there either.

BTC now reacts to liquidity, rates, and risk appetite the same way equities do, at least for this phase of the cycle.

I’ve been watching the https://www.artemis.ai/home closely, and Bitcoin miners have become one of the strongest performers in the sector.

The basket is up 56% over the last month, outperforming AI chips, data center operators, and even parts of the power trade.

The market is starting to price miners less as cyclical BTC exposure and more as energy-rich compute infrastructure with optionality. Cheap power and existing hardware footprints suddenly matter a lot more in an AI-constrained world.

That tells us GHO is moving beyond a borrow primitive into a multi-surface revenue system across Core, Prime, Horizon, and liquidity modules. For Aave, this diversifies cash flows and makes GHO growth less dependent on a single use case.

My take: this is a classic “fundamentals vs sentiment” setup.

If DAO steps in to absorb supply here, insiders will see value where market sees dead weight.

Revolut already did ~$10B in stablecoin volume, Nubank pushing crypto custody into US banking. Card rails still dominate merchants but growth is happening on stablecoins.

That’s the key divergence.

Legacy = trusted, slow, expensive
Stablecoins = fast, global, composable

This won’t flip overnight, but once merchants start optimizing for margins, stablecoin rails win. Whoever captures merchant flow controls the next payment stack.

And crypto is already sitting in the backend waiting.

That resilience hides what really happened:

Meanwhile, activity has reached ATH.

So price ↓, usage ↑.

ETH is stuck between two regimes:

Short term → macro liquidity + broken fee model

Long term → still the settlement layer everyone builds on

Disconnect like this doesn’t last forever.

Feels like crypto de-risked early thanks to Oct ‘25 wipeout, while equities are still pricing a soft landing. But if the energy shock narrative plays out – slower growth and sticky inflation – that complacency gets tested.

Crypto looks closer to “pain already priced,”
equities still have room to reprice risk.

The missing piece has always been real credit demand.

KUSD is interesting because it flips the model: yield comes from actual borrowers (trade finance, payments), not token incentives.

Instead of farming, you’re financing real activity. Instead of emissions, you get cash flow.

This is where stablecoins start becoming financial infrastructure, not just liquidity.

If this works, DeFi yield finally gets anchored in the real economy.

Feels rich to me in this market.

What’s more interesting is how people are trading it.

On 42, you’re trading the path to that valuation. Each FDV range is a token, and price shifts as sentiment + capital flows change.

I’m personally watching the $10–12.5B range. If it stretches to ~5x, that’s a clean trade.

Bigger picture: this is basically event futures for crypto.

With Base, MetaMask, OpenSea, etc. coming up, this becomes a hedge and alpha tool for TGEs.

What especially stands out:

• Spot and ETF demand cooled → no strong bid
• Derivatives turned defensive → less aggressive longs
• On-chain still weak → no real activity expansion

Market isn’t buying dips with conviction. This feels like classic pause phase.

Until spot demand returns, BTC likely stays range-bound.

Meanwhile a lot of high-value chains aren’t even close.

This split is important:

– High users → cheap chains, payments, retail
– High value → ETH + L2s, capital markets

If you’re only watching ETH, you’re tracking capital. If you want real adoption, look at BNB / Tron.

I keep looking at USDC and USDT and it’s clear https://app.artemisanalytics.com/stablecoins?stablecoinsTab=stablecoins

USDC is still heavily anchored on Ethereum (~67%) and keeps expanding across Solana and L2s like Arbitrum and Base. That’s very on-chain-native flow: DeFi, funds, structured capital.

USDT is different. It’s basically split between Ethereum (~48%) and Tron (~44%), and that Tron dominance tells you everything: CEX liquidity, P2P transfers, emerging markets.

Same stablecoin narrative, but completely different users.

If you want to understand the market, just follow the chain:

ETH + L2s = capital markets layer.
Tron = actual usage at scale.
