🇩🇪🎖☠️ – SS-Standartenführer Fritz Klingenberg; How 7 Germans captured Belgrade

Fritz Klingenberg was part of the 2nd SS Panzer Division Das Reich which was one of the SS Divisions participating In the Invasion of Yugoslavia, during his unit's advance deep into enemy territory, he reached Belgrade on the morning of  April 12, 1941, after crossing the Danube. After a brief firefight with the Royal Serb Garrison that outnumbered him and his men almost 150 to 1, he had a German flag raised In the middle of the city. After he threatened the mayor that he would command another air raid on the already demolished city fearing twice the civilian casualties that they already had all the Serbs surrendered unconditionally at approximately 6:45 p.m. For this act he was rewarded the Knights Cross and met the Führer personally.

In Stalingrad, the 6th German Army, together with the 20th Romanian Division and a group of Croats, has been fighting a heroic and sacrificial battle for weeks against a superior enemy, which is reportedly 30 divisions strong and provided with an abundance of war material. These German and Allied troops, which are closely surrounded by the Soviets and cannot expect any help, have for weeks withstood the best Soviet divisions that have run themselves to death against the German defense.
