So I'm studying CS at HilCoE. For those who dont know it, its one of the most elite unis you can find if youre thinking of studying CS or SE. I remember my mom pressuring me to apply to this university. Even though I had no interest in computer science at the time. I did it anyway cuz i wanted to make my parents proud. At the time it did live up to its name compared to unity university(which i studied at for almost a year) the difference was night and day. The teachers, education, management were all great. My grades turned out pretty good. The schedule they give for classes made it so I had a lotta time on my hands(plus I dropped a lot of freshman courses so I had even more free time). So I used it to do other jobs n stuff. There were a few problems and mishaps here and there but I just chose to adapt to it, until this academic year. Rn im on my final year of uni and obviously there was gonna be more difficult classes, projects etc. But the office just decided to double down this year and make it hell on earth for us. There has been some problems with management at hilcoe but this semester was the final straw for many students, including me.
This year they added this new thing where students will now have to take their exams online and stuff. In concept that doesnt sound like a bad Idea, in practice tho, lets just say it felt like no one knows what theyre doing.
So it was mid exam week, and turns out nobody informed the students on how to setup ur pc. Most of us were absolutely clueless. That wouldnt have been a problem if 6 hours later, their entire system shuts down for God knows what reason.
So the exam was delayed for another week, which again wouldnt have been a problem if they hadnt set the schedule to be right next to EASTER DAY! so the exams were like this:
Monday- Thursday
Friday was holiday so no exams
another exam on saturday
And then Easter on sunday
And for HiLCoE this is nothing new, they have this werid habit of placing exams right before/after/in the middle of holidays. Oh its christmass! BOOM FINAL EXAM! Oh its new years OOP ANOTHER FINAL EXAM. Oh wow its easter BONK ANOTHER EXAM!!!! Its because of these guys that I cant see holidays as fun times anymore, For me holidays are just like "oh great I can sleep two more hours without overthinking anything" and then do other work! They genuinely make you forget whats its like to LIVE.
Anyway so everyone in my class had enough, there was a long conversation on how the uni only cares about one religion and treats the rest like crap. I dont wanna go deep into it, but I will agree with that fact, they should've been more inclusive with other religions. I dont blame people who felt discriminated against with the way they handle things.
And for the most part the office is so ignorant, it would take a miracle to convince that office to make changes, and since most students were against the schedule THANKFULLY they changed it... again.
So I have CreaTech next week, and we were gonna finish exams by saturday. I was like well this is great I can fully focus on this thing.
So we had an exam today, i wanted to get it over with quick, exam was at 8:00 local so I came early at 2:00 local to revise everything, prep and stuff. And as we're about to start... they cancel the exam after theyre SYSTEM BROKE... this is the third time they delayed these exams. Imo all of this couldve been avoided if they just let us use papers. Mind you:
-I had to finish prepping a game we're working on by next week
-I had to submit an animation work for a studio im working at
-I had assignments due next week that I was hoping to finish soon, so I can have more time to focus on next weeks event!
The biggest problem at HiLCoE is that they think we dont have lives outside of that school. They cant acknowledge the fact that most of us have jobs, other schools or even other careers.
