🔆 Petrol–Diesel Excise Duty Cut: Prices Unchanged

📍 What has the Government done?
✅ Special additional excise duty on:
✔️ Petrol reduced by ₹10/litre
✔️ Diesel reduced by ₹10/litre
✅ Effective duty now:
✔️ Petrol → ₹3/litre
✔️ Diesel → ₹0/litre

📍 Will Fuel Prices Fall?
❌ No reduction in retail petrol & diesel prices at pumps
👉 Government has directed Oil Marketing Companies (OMCs) not to pass on the benefit to consumers

📍 Why was the Duty Cut Made?
✅ To cushion losses faced by OMCs due to rising crude oil prices
✅ OMC losses estimated at around ₹2,400 crore per day
✅ Govt revenue loss due to duty cut estimated at around ₹5,500 crore over 15 days

✅ Export duty increased on:
✔️ Diesel → ₹21.5/litre
