The Association of Ethiopian Architects invites members to submit projects for the AEA Architecture in Practice: Project Review Series: an initiative focused on learning through the discussion of built work. Selected projects will host on-site sessions featuring presentations by the lead architect, client, and key stakeholders, followed by discussion and a guided architectural tour. The program aims to foster professional exchange, reflection, and learning within the Ethiopian context.

Our 51st session will be on "ARCHITECTURE AND HISTORY II, Dessie Musuem Renovation Project"
with Ethiopian Heritage Trust/Dr. Admasu Abebe and Makoya Mamo/

Implemented by the Ethiopian Heritage Trust with funding from the British Council Cultural Protection Fund, this project restored the historic Dessie Museum following damage from the 2020–2022 northern Ethiopia conflict and climate impacts. Built in 1917 by Armenian, Indian, and local craftsmen as the residence of Dejazmach Yosef Birru, the building has served as a museum since 1981, safeguarding the cultural heritage of Wollo.
