⚡ EVs have officially overtaken petrol cars in Singapore.

For the first time, electric vehicles made up the majority of new car registrations here, accounting for 57.6% of all new cars registered in Q1 2026.

And leading the charge? BYD.

The Chinese EV giant registered 3,239 units, making up nearly 1 in 4 new cars sold in Singapore during the first three months of 2026.

Other Chinese brands like Chery, GAC and MG have also entered the top 10, showing just how quickly the local car market is shifting.

With EV rebates of up to $30,000, more Cat A-friendly models, and rising acceptance of Chinese EVs, Singapore’s car market may have already reached its EV tipping point.

Good News! As of 27 March 2026 (6pm), prices have eased slightly across most brands, a small but noticeable dip to end the week.

📊 RON95 prices now:
Shell: $3.40/L
Caltex: $3.42/L
Esso: $3.42/L
Sinopec: $3.42/L
SPC: $3.41/L
Cnergy: $2.54/L (still lowest)

📊 RON98 snapshot:
Shell / Esso / Sinopec / SPC: $3.92/L
Cnergy: $2.90/L (lowest by a wide margin)

📉 What changed:
Most major brands trimmed prices slightly across RON92/95/98
RON98 has come off previous highs, now stabilising around ~$3.92/L

Cnergy continues to hold a significant price advantage vs traditional brands (in terms of raw pricing before discounts etc.)

LTA & SCDF are proposing new green plates for EVs — not for looks, but for safety.

The Traffic Police has announced that driving and riding test fees will increase starting 13 March 2026, with further increases planned in the coming years due to rising operating costs.
