Intel's Core Ultra X7 358H is cheaper than AMD HX 370
Framework just released their Framework 13 Pro. This is one of the few laptops that have both Amd 300 series and Intel Panther Lake and whose price is known. A lot of people have been comparing Panther Lake to Strix Halo stating that their price was similar, however that is simply not true. The Framework pricing is
AMD HX 370 - 1649$Intel Core Ultra X7 358H - 1599$(source: https://frame.work/products/laptop13pro-diy-intel-ultra-3/)Do remember this isn't even Amd's 400 series , which is even more expensive.
This means that the increased price of the new panther lake laptops isn't due to panther lake, as it would be even more cheaper for larger oem's. Its most likely just the oem's deciding to price it higher due to memory/storage price increases and the fact that since pretty much every other laptop is increasing price, they can raise it as much as they can afford to. Once the oem's run out of supply of Amd hx370 and ai max that they already previously bought before the RAM shortage, I think they might increase prices. For eg: Asus tuf a14 with ai max 392 is only 200$ lesser than initial price of asus flow z13 with ai max 395 which is generally 1 or 2 levels higher in terms of cost/premiumness than it (back when z13 offered nvidia cards, it was more expensive than the equivalent g14). The tuf a14 is also more expensive than the g14 which performs much better in games and has better battery life and is much more premium. Effectively once they run out of the old stock of z13 they may increase prices. This collision of new stock of panther lake and old stock of amd might be why the prices of panther lake seem to be higher than strix point and this is probably going to change once they start selling laptops with the amd strix point/strix halo sku's that were bought after the RAM shortage.

GamersNexus' video about getting blacklisted is misleading and sensational.
So from what is known, it seems like amd sent out review samples of the 9950x3d2 to very few reviewers or sites and excluded many. Those that did not receive samples includedHardwareluxxComputerbaseJayzTwoCentsTechpowerupIgorsLabAccording to a tweet from JayzTwoCents"Just to put some extra info out there, I don't think Gamers Nexus was specifically targeted or "Blacklisted" from the 9950X3D2 launch. I've talked with several of the "usual suspects" for reviews when things launched and no one received early info or samples, including us. This doesn't mean no one was, but it definitely means this wasn't part of a typical release cycle. I suspect this is more of a situation where AMD knows this CPU is really lackluster in typical use case scenarios and didn't put much fanfare around it. This is only speculation but again, as much as I know Steve sees it as a badge of honor to get blacklisted, but I strongly doubt that's the case."It looks like amd simply wasn't too interested in marketing the 9950x3d2 because they saw it as a niche product that would ship in low volume. GamersNexus jumped the gun with misleading and clickbaity claims about them getting blacklisted when it was actually amd that didn't care about the 9950x3d2.

The global compute utilisation problem nobody talks about. Millions of capable GPUs running at 0% right now
There's something I keep thinking about that doesn't get much coverage in hardware circles. Millions of high-end GPUs are sitting idle or barely used. After the Ethereum Merge, a huge chunk of GPU mining capacity lost its main revenue stream overnight. Before that, GPU prices were insane because demand was through the roof. Now the same cards are cheap and underused. Meanwhile, AI training keeps getting described as a global compute shortage. Companies are waiting months for GPU access on major cloud platforms. There's a massive gap between hardware sitting idle in homes and small operations, and compute that AI developers desperately need. Distributed compute for AI isn't a new idea. SETI@home, Folding@home showed decades ago that volunteer compute networks can work for specific problems. But nobody's really bridged the gap between idle consumer GPU hardware and productive AI workloads at scale. Has anyone been following whether any projects are seriously attempting this? The hardware exists. The demand exists. Whether the coordination problem is solvable is another matter.
