0.6.1 RC is here.

Getting Started Guide works now. Tryorama is deprecated (Sweettest is the new thing). Bugfix/feature RCs are coming out quickly, thanks to intensive testing with Holo and Unyt.

Lots still being worked out — it's still just an RC, things are moving.

29 roadmap points this week. The scope grew to include infrastructure fixes for bootstrap and relay services.

Roadmap Update — March 14

The development team is maintaining strong velocity: 31 points per week over the past few weeks. That's a reliable pace, and it's holding steady.

The current sprint is focused on maintenance tasks and kitsune2 integration — the kind of infrastructure work that doesn't produce flashy features but ensures the foundation is solid. These tasks are essential prep for the upcoming release, which is tracking toward completion in approximately 4 weeks.

Wind Tunnel continues to mature as our testing infrastructure. The team is polishing the data display layer, making performance reports more ergonomic and readable. When you're testing distributed systems, clear visualization of results matters — it's the difference between understanding what's actually happening and guessing.

A few technical highlights from this week's work:

Wind Tunnel improvements: Data display polish for summary reports, plus behind-the-scenes infrastructure refinements. We're also expanding the test suite with more basic coverage, including signals testing. Unyt ( https://unyt.co/) is getting significant attention in the suite as we verify reliability across real-world hApp patterns.

Integration work: Kitsune2 integration tasks are moving through the queue. This is foundational work that enables better peer discovery and networking resilience.

Roadmap Progress

Development velocity continues steady: 31 points per week maintained over recent sprints. The release timeline remains on track for approximately 4 weeks from now. Current work is focused on maintenance tasks and kitsune2 integration — foundational infrastructure that doesn't produce visible features but ensures reliability.

Wind Tunnel Maturity

The testing infrastructure is getting consistent attention. Recent improvements include:

Wind Tunnel is reaching the level of maturity where it provides genuine confidence in production deployments. That's the goal — moving from "it works on our machines" to "we can demonstrate it works under documented conditions."

Unyt Oracles

Unyt released pricing oracles this week — blockchain token and forex data feeds for hApps. This service is centralized, and that's appropriate. Not everything needs to be decentralized. If your hApp needs reliable external price data for payments, trading, or accounting, this integration is now available.

Since our callout last week, we've seen a surge in active HoloPorts joining the Wind Tunnel. 🌪(Reached the 50 Node milestone and more!)

But to fully simulate the load for apps like Unyt, we need to push the node count higher.

If you tried Holochain a year ago and found peer discovery frustrating, it's time to look again.

The 2025 integration of Kitsune2 didn't just speed things up (sync is now <1 min); it made connection handling graceful. Re-establishing after failure, calculating missing data correctly, it just works.

The plumbing is fixed. Go build the house.

🚨 Roadmap Alert: 0.6.1 & 0.7 are In Progress

We've updated the roadmap to reflect active development.

Key Detail: We are backporting the massive networking improvements (Iroh-based transport) from the upcoming 0.7 branch directly into 0.6.1.

This means improved peer discovery (startup experience is faster) and connection reliability without needing a breaking app migration. (Note that apps using Iroh won't be able to communicate with apps using WebRTC.) Watch this space for more details on Iroh!
