🎙️Excerpt of a Jumu’ah Khutba delivered by the Noble Shaykh, Hassan bin Muhammed Ba Shu'ayb, May Allah preserve him.
▪️The importance of prayer and its effect on life▪️
….the status of it is great, it has in it the (Rukuu) bowing to Allah, it has what expiates sins. If a person perfects their ablution, sins remove from him even if it were from beneath his fingernails. So, this act of worship, the matter of it is great. It has bowing to Allah where each person bows to Allah. A poor person prays beside a rich person, and a subordinate prays beside a chief, and those under rulership pray beside a ruler, both of them are bowing. Both are bowing to Allah Aza wa Jal. Likewise, it has the (Sujuud) prostration, and each one places their forehead on the ground, they put their faces down (on the floor). The most noble part of you O slave of Allah, your face, your beauty, you place it on the floor. Every Muslim when they pray, they put their face on the floor, to who? Who is this humility for? For who is this submission? Who is this act of lowering for? To Allah the Glorious and Most High.
The prayer has recitation of the Quran. Some people do not recite the Quran (outside the prayer), had it not been for the prayer, they wouldn’t recite one verse in their path to Allah, they wouldn’t recite one verse. But inside the prayer there’s recitation of the Quran. And there’s the Tasbeeh. Some people, were it not that they pray, they wouldn’t make a single Tasbeeh (glorification of) Allah. Likewise, the prayer has in it the Istigfaar (asking of forgiveness), and it has the word of Tawheed in the Tashāhud, and it has making of supplication, and various kinds of remembrances. (Quran): and perform As-Salat for My Remembrance. All this included in this lofty great act of worship of which Allah Aza wa Jal commanded us to observe.
Yes, and He attached the prayer with Imān. (Quran): So he neither believed, nor prayed! No act of worship was mentioned along with Imān in this verse from Surah Qiyāmah except the prayer. (Quran): So he neither believed…Meaning, in the (message of the) Prophet ﷺ. They didn’t believe, nor did they pray. In fact, Allah Aza wa Jal called (the prayer) Imān in His statement the Most High in Surah Al-Baqarah. (Quran): And Allah would never make your Imān to be lost. Meaning, your prayers. And Allah the Most High knows best.
