Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday said that India must guard against pessimistic people who are unable to see India make giant strides of progress. He was addressing the nation from the ramparts of the Red Fort after hoisting the Indian tricolour on the occasion of India’s 78th Independence Day.
“We are moving forward with a strong resolve but there are some people who cannot digest India’s progress unless it benefits them. The country needs to protect itself from these handful of pessimistic people,” PM Modi said in his 11th consecutive I-Day speech.

The Prime Minister said that he is aware of the numerous challenges – both internal and external – in achieving the goals that India has set for itself, and warned that such challenges would only increase with time.
“I want to say to such forces that India's development will not pose a threat to anyone. The world should not worry seeing India’s development," the Prime Minister said, in an apparent reference to nations possibly trying to interfere with India’s internal affairs.

MTNL clocked Rs 183.9 crore as revenue from operation for the June quarter, down by 7.8 percent on year, while the net loss narrowed to Rs 773.5 crore.
The PSU telecom company posted an EBITDA loss of Rs 150 crore, unchanged from a year ago.

MTNL also announced the sale of its stake in overseas arm Mahanagar Telephone (Mauritius), and said it has approved the sale of stake in its JV with STPI back to the partner. MTNL will also be closing its wholly-owned subsidiary Millennium Telecom.
The telecom player also approved a service agreement with BSNL for 10 years.
