U. S. employers added 119,000 jobs in September

The U. S. unemployment rate inched up to 4.4% in September — the highest it’s been since October 2021 — compared to 4.3% in August. Still, hiring held up better than expected, with employers adding about 119,000 jobs. The report came out seven weeks late because of the government shutdown.

iPhone expanding satellite features
