Falsehood Only Spreads When Mixed with Truth

Shaykh al-Islām Ibn Taymiyyah (d. 728 AH) said:

“…And know that there is no one of intellect who says a statement except that it must necessarily contain something of the truth, such that his heart accepts it, and it is accepted from him [by others], just as the counterfeit dirham is accepted because of what is in it of silver, and the milk that is mixed [is accepted] because of what is in it of pure [milk]. Otherwise, if falsehood were pure and unmixed, it would not be hidden from one who has the slightest measure of intellect.

And from here falsehoods were called shubahāt, because of their resemblance [i.e. mushābahah] to the truth in some attributes…”

When a Scholar Makes an Error, the Whole World Makes an Error!

Sh Badī-ud-dīn writes in the Muqaddimah of his Tafsīr after explaining that requests were made of him to author a tafsīr:

"So I began to ponder over the affair, and consider what I had to offer and the reality of the task at hand. If they had entrusted me to move a towering mountain, it would have been easier for me. I took a step forward and back again.

Another consideration: man is prone to making mistakes and forgetting, and I feared that I would make a mistake or an error, for when a scholar makes an error, the whole world makes an error, to the point that I intended to excuse myself."

We cannot fathom the weight on a scholar's shoulders. This great imām, with a level of knowledge acknowledged by the likes of Al-Albāni, Muqbil, Rabī, would not start writing his Tafsīr because he feared making mistakes.

A beautiful statement dated 24 Shawwāl 1447 (12 April 2026) in which the Shaykh clarifies that he loves the scholars, has defended them for thirty years, and falsifies the claim that he reviles them.

Ash-Shaykh Badīʿud-Dīn ar-Rāshidī, Allāh have mercy on him, authored Badīʿut-Tafāsīr, a tafsīr in the Sindhi language. He mentions some of the reasons for this:

“Out region of Sindh (Pakistan), the majority of it is void of knowledge and knowing Allāh the Most High. It is for this reason that blind allegiance to madh-habs and following (Ṣūfī) orders has dominated the area.”

(Muqaddimatu-Tafsīril-Qurʾān-al-Karīm, p. 59)

Benefit: If we want to improve ourselves and our standing in front of Allāh in the hereafter, then we have to correct our sajdah in front of Him in this life. This can only be accomplished with knowledge.

Allāh have mercy upon him.
