$1,200 Dollars’ Worth of Cake?!

While his older sister was playing for her sports team, a 4-year-old boy played
on his father’s cell phone. Dad had given it to him to keep him distracted during the game. So, when a food delivery service turned up to Dad’s place of work with $1,200 worth of food, something was clearly up!

The 4-year-old had told his father that he had ordered himself a birthday cake,
but his dad didn’t take him seriously. But $1,200 worth of cake and gelato was delivered to the fire station where Dad worked. The store ultimately refunded the man’s money, and you can be sure that dad won’t be giving his phone to his young son any time soon!

Children can figure out some things for themselves, but they don’t just “work out” faith in God.

It takes intentionality to reach the heart of a child with the gospel, to teach a child to be a disciple of Jesus.

Isaiah 54:13
“And all thy children shall be taught of the LORD; and great shall be the peace of thy children.”

Ephesians 6:4
“And, ye fathers, provoke not your children to wrath: but bring them up in the nurture and admonition of the Lord.”

Peter, James, and John witnessed Christ unveiled in radiant kingdom glory. Peter later connected that moment directly to Christ’s future royal coming:
“We were eyewitnesses of His majesty.”
2 Peter 1:16
The Transfiguration was a preview of the Kingdom, not the Second Coming itself.
❖ “This Generation” in Matthew 24
Jesus said:
“Truly I tell you, this generation will certainly not pass away until all these things have happened.”
Matthew 24:34
But what are “all these things”?
In context, Jesus had just described:
❖ global deception and false messiahs (Matt. 24:4–5)
❖ wars and rumors of wars (Matt. 24:6)
❖ worldwide turmoil and collapsing nations (Matt. 24:7)
❖ the abomination of desolation (Matt. 24:15)
❖ unparalleled tribulation (Matt. 24:21)
❖ cosmic disturbances in the heavens (Matt. 24:29)
❖ the visible return of Christ in glory (Matt. 24:30)
Then Jesus declares:
“Immediately after the distress of those days
‘the sun will be darkened,
and the moon will not give its light;
the stars will fall from the sky.’”
Matthew 24:29
And then:
“They will see the Son of Man coming on the clouds of heaven, with power and great glory.”
Matthew 24:30
That did not occur in AD 70.
The plain reading is that the generation witnessing those end-time signs begin will also witness their completion.
This is not failed prophecy.
It is prophetic sequence.
❖ Prophetic Nearness Is a Biblical Pattern
Critics often assume words like “soon” or “near” must mean “within a few years.”
But Scripture frequently uses prophetic nearness language regarding events still future.
“The great day of the LORD is near.”
Zephaniah 1:14
“For the day of the LORD is near.”
Joel 1:15
The prophets spoke with urgency because God calls His people to readiness.
This same expectation fills the New Testament:
“You also must be ready.”
Luke 12:40
“Keep watch, because you do not know the day or the hour.”
Matthew 25:13
Imminence is not deception.
It is preparation.
❖ Romans 16:20 and the “Already / Not Yet”
Paul writes:
“The God of peace will soon crush Satan under your feet.”
Romans 16:20
Yet Satan’s final destruction remains future:
“And the devil… was thrown into the lake of burning sulfur.”
Revelation 20:10
Scripture often presents future certainties as already inaugurated realities.
❖ Satan defeated at the Cross (Col. 2:15)
❖ yet final judgment still future (Rev. 20:10)
❖ Christ enthroned in Heaven (Ps. 110:1; Heb. 1:3)
❖ yet earthly reign still future (Zech. 14:4, 9)
❖ believers redeemed (Eph. 1:7)
❖ yet awaiting glorification (Rom. 8:23)
The Bible consistently operates in this framework.
❖ Hebrews 10 and Revelation 22
Hebrews says:
“In just a little while,
He who is coming will come and will not delay.”
Hebrews 10:37
Revelation closes with Jesus declaring:
“Yes, I am coming soon.”
Revelation 22:20
This is not date-setting language.
It is imminence language.
Jesus also taught:
“But about that day or hour no one knows.”
Matthew 24:36
If Jesus intended to predict a precise first-century deadline, that statement becomes incoherent.
The New Testament consistently teaches readiness, not failed chronology.
❖ Peter Predicted This Exact Objection
Peter astonishingly foretold the modern skeptical argument itself:
“Where is this ‘coming’ He promised?”
2 Peter 3:4
Peter’s answer?
“With the Lord a day is like a thousand years, and a thousand years are like a day.”
2 Peter 3:8
And then:
“The Lord is not slow in keeping His promise… but is patient with you.”
2 Peter 3:9
The delay is not failure.
It is mercy.
❖ The Issue Is Simple
The New Testament teaches:
❖ certainty (John 14:3; Acts 1:11)
❖ imminence (Rev. 22:12, 20)
❖ watchfulness (Matt. 24:42; 25:13)
❖ readiness (Luke 12:35–40)
Not failed prophecy.
Rome fell.
Empires vanished.
Caesars became dust.
Jerusalem was scattered and regathered.
Jacob lives again in the land exactly as foretold.
And still Jesus says:
“Surely I am coming soon.”
Revelation 22:20
As Arnold Fruchtenbaum has often emphasized, the prophets consistently distinguish Messiah’s present heavenly session from His future earthly Davidic reign.
The King is still coming.

❖ Did Jesus Falsely Predict His Return in the First Century?

Skeptics often claim Jesus promised to return physically within the lifetime of the apostles, and since that did not happen, the New Testament contains failed prophecy.

But that accusation collapses once the passages are read in context.

The New Testament does not teach a failed prediction.
It teaches certainty, imminence, watchfulness, and readiness.
Jesus never said:
“I will physically return before every apostle dies.”

He taught believers to live expectantly because history is moving toward a guaranteed climax.

“Heaven and earth will pass away, but My words will never pass away.”
Matthew 24:35

❖ Matthew 16:28 and Mark 9:1

Jesus declared:
“Truly I tell you, some who are standing here will not taste death before they see the Son of Man coming in His kingdom.”
Matthew 16:28

Critics often stop there.

But the Transfiguration follows immediately afterward in all three Synoptic Gospels.

"He has been busy for the past 2,000 years or so preparing a place for us in the Father’s House, and there we will enjoy the glories of Paradise.

There will be a reward ceremony where believers will be rewarded for their service to Christ.

Better to be a participant of this ceremony in Heaven than to experience God’s wrath taking place on Earth

This will also be a time for Christians to be reunited with friends or family who have preceded us in death and who have been waiting for this grand reunion of loved ones.

Those who have missed out on the Rapture will be experiencing on Earth something completely different.

Take action now to avoid having to go through what is certainly coming according to God’s Word!"

There is a beautiful connection between understanding God’s Word and responding to Him in prayer. When Scripture becomes clear, hearts are stirred—not just to believe, but to intercede. God’s Word does not simply inform us; it transforms us, leading us into deeper communion with Him.

In South Korea, this transformation is happening as listeners engage with the clear teaching of the Bible. Through THRU the BIBLE, many are not only growing in their understanding of salvation through Jesus Christ, but are also being moved to pray for their nation, their churches, and their people.

“We thank God for His grace in giving us salvation through the blood of Jesus Christ, who saved us from our sins. Thank you for making the Bible easy to understand through McGee’s Bible Study.

"We are living in the presence of the Lord through the grace of Jesus Christ. We pray that God will have mercy on the Republic of Korea and heal this land. We pray that the Lord will rule over the nation, the church, and His people.”

God is using His Word in South Korea to deepen understanding and stir heartfelt prayer for the nation. As believers grow in truth, they are also growing in their desire to see God move.

🇧🇦 Bosnian Man Begs to Know More About Jesus

In the war-torn nation of Bosnia, you have to be in the right place at the right time. One missionary, Kevin, made seven trips into the former Yugoslavia to give out gospel literature during the height of the fighting. And he discovered that “you have to take opportunity as it comes.”

Once his team was stopped at a military roadblock. Guards broke into their truck, opened one of the boxes inside—then asked for five hundred Scripture booklets to share with their fellow soldiers. In fact, when fighting is the most fierce, Kevin says opportunities for outreach are often the greatest. “When the shelling would start,” he recalls, “people would come running to the local Christians pleading for literature.”

Though Bosnia is mostly Muslim, Kevin once took a count and found only three people out of a thousand turned down his material. But one story stands out in his mind about the need to be ready.

Standing alone on a street corner, with only one Scripture booklet left in his hand, he saw a man nearby. Kevin spoke the only words he knew in the man's language, “Jesus loves you.” The man grabbed Kevin by the coat, begging to know more. He asked if Kevin could speak Croatian, or German, but to no avail. Yet Kevin remembered he had one more Gospel tract—in the man’s own language—which could do the talking for him.
