Do Not Belittle the Power of Supplication in These Final Blessed Nights of Ramaḍān
My dear brothers and sisters,
Do not ever belittle the power of supplication in these final blessed nights of Ramaḍān. There is nothing upon this earth more powerful than a sincere duʿā’ rising from the heart of a servant to his Lord. Even if you feel that the answer has been delayed, do not grow weary and do not abandon your supplication; rather persist, repeat it, and turn to Allah with certainty and conviction. For the scales of life can be overturned by a single supplication that emerges from a truthful heart.
Remember that Nūḥ (peace be upon him) called upon his Lord saying, “Indeed, I am overpowered, so help.” (Al-Qamar 54:10) — and by that supplication Allah caused the earth to be flooded and the tyrants to be destroyed. Remember Ibrāhīm (peace be upon him) when he stood in the barren valley and supplicated, “My Lord, make this a city of security.” (Al-Baqarah 2:126) — and Allah turned a desolate land into the sacred city of Makkah to which the hearts of millions journey.
Remember Mūsā (peace be upon him) when he stood alone, a fugitive with nothing in his hands, and said, “My Lord, indeed I am, for whatever good You would send down to me, in need.” (Al-Qaṣaṣ 28:24) — and Allah opened for him the doors of provision, safety, family, and a future he could never have imagined. Remember Ayyūb (peace be upon him) when he called in weakness and pain, “Indeed, adversity has touched me, and You are the Most Merciful of those who show mercy.” (Al-Anbiyāʾ 21:83) — and Allah restored his health and returned to him his family and more besides.
Remember Yūnus (peace be upon him) in the depths of the darkness when he called, “None has the right to be worshipped except You; exalted are You. Indeed, I have been among the wrongdoers.” (Al-Anbiyāʾ 21:87) — and Allah rescued him from the belly of the whale and from distress. Remember Sulaymān (peace be upon him) who said, “My Lord, forgive me and grant me a kingdom such as will not belong to any after me.” (Ṣād 38:35) — and Allah granted him a dominion unlike any king before or after him.
So no matter how great your need, how difficult your request, or how distant relief may appear, remember the boundless power of Allah — the One who hears the whisper of the heart before the tongue even speaks, who knows what your soul longs for before your lips utter it, and who is able to grant you what you seek and even more than what you ask. In these blessed nights, raise your hands, humble your heart, and ask with certainty, for perhaps a single sincere supplication in these moments may change the course of your life, erase your sins, grant you what you long for, and open for you doors of mercy you never imagined.
