Drenching Monday

On the day after Easter some Slavic people (Poles, Slovaks and Ukrainians) celebrate an exciting, wet day. The tradition is simple. Young men get buckets of water and splash young girls with it. In some regions men also strike women with pussy willow branches. This is widely considered a leftover of Pagan fertility-promoting rituals.

🇧🇾Traditional Belarusian women's headdress Namitka.

This is an ancient traditional female headdress among the Eastern Slavs. It was worn by married women in Belarus, Lithuania, southern regions of Russia and Ukraine. It is a strip of very thin white kuzhel linen cloth 30-70 centimeters wide and three to five meters long, which is tied around the head in a certain way. But it has been preserved in the costume, in the process of wearing it most of all among Belarusians. The anology of the Belarusian namitka is the European medieval wimple.
