because of rooted device limitations, i can’t test it directly with tools like frida/panda (you see i need to use vphonegaga 🥺)

help me improve it with try to kill or bypass this:


there's no 100% protected, but it will waste more of your time to bypass or kill the signature, and it’s enough to stop script kiddies who only rely on auto patch tools 😋

A phone number-stealing backdoor was found in Nekogram

The malicious code is concealed within https://github.com/Nekogram/Nekogram/blob/6a30d8f540142fd4f862a505ba2e1cf5f53ea1a2/TMessagesProj/src/main/java/tw/nekomimi/nekogram/Extra.java.example (notably, the public repo version of this file is clean). It operates by using obfuscated code to send data through an inline query to https://t.me/nekonotificationbot, leaving almost zero footprint.

Additionally, if several accounts are connected within the app, the developer can easily see that they belong to the same person.

Бэкдор спрятан в файле https://github.com/Nekogram/Nekogram/blob/6a30d8f540142fd4f862a505ba2e1cf5f53ea1a2/TMessagesProj/src/main/java/tw/nekomimi/nekogram/Extra.java.example (причем в публичном репозитории проекта этот файл выглядит иначе). Схема работает так: обфусцированный код передает данные через inline-запрос боту https://t.me/nekonotificationbot, практически не оставляя следов.

А если в приложении подключено сразу несколько аккаунтов, разработчик легко узнает, что все они связаны между собой.

It remains an open question whether similar "surprises" exist in forks like AyuGram, ExteraGram, and other clients.

These projects do not provide up-to-date source code (some repositories haven't been updated in over three years). It's impossible to verify what's running under the hood of their recent releases, making them essentially a black box.

This situation makes you wonder. The main value of any alternative client is transparency. Are a few convenient features really worth risking your privacy when developers hide their code for years?📦

Остается открытым вопрос: нет ли подобных «сюрпризов» в форках вроде AyuGram, ExteraGram и других клиентах?

Эти проекты не предоставляют актуальные исходники (некоторые репозитории не обновлялись больше трех лет). Проверить их свежие релизы невозможно, поэтому пользователи скачивают «кота в мешке».
