वामदेवकृतोपनिषत्स्तुतिनिरूपणम्
यो वै रुद्र इति श्रुतिः प्रतिपदं वक्ति त्वदीयांशकं चन्द्रेन्द्रानलभास्करा हरिविधिस्कन्दा गणानां पतिः । एवं त्वन्मयमेतदेव जगति तज्जादिशब्दैः स्तुतिः (श्रुतिः) निर्वक्ति प्रमथाधिनाथ सुतरां त्वां देवदेवं सदा ॥ ७१॥
Translation:
"The Śruti declares at every step, 'He who is verily Rudra is the Supreme.' The Moon, Indra, Agni, Bhaskara, Viṣṇu (Hari), Brahmā (Vidhi), Skanda, and Gaṇeśa (the Lord of Ganas) are all but partial manifestations of You. Thus, this entire universe is permeated by You. O Lord of the Pramathas (Śiva)! The Vedic hymns perfectly and eternally define You as the God of Gods, praising You through words that signify the origin, sustenance, and dissolution of the cosmos."
वेदाहमेतं पुरुषं महान्तमादित्यवर्णं तमसः परस्तात् । सर्वाणि रूपाणि सदैव शम्भो कृत्वाधितिष्ठस्यथ पद्मजेन ॥ ७२॥
Translation:
"I know that great, supreme Puruṣa, resplendent like the sun, beyond all darkness (ignorance). O Śaṃbhu! Having created all forms in the universe, You eternally preside over them. And it is You who, through Brahmā (the one born from the lotus), carry out the creation."
स्तुतोऽसि सृष्ठिप्रथनाय चाग्रे इन्द्रेण चाशामधिपैश्च सर्वदा । ज्ञात्वा परे त्वां भवने वीतशोकाः नान्यः पन्था विद्यतेऽयनाय ॥ ७३॥
Translation:
"In the beginning, for the expansion of creation, You were praised by Indra and the guardians of all directions (Dikpālas), as You always are. Upon realizing You in the supreme abode, the wise become entirely free from grief. Indeed, there is no other path available for liberation (Mokṣa)."
त्वन्मन्यवे करजातधनुःशरणां हेतिं तथैव शरधिं नमसां गणैश्च । वक्ति श्रुतिः प्रमथनाथ तवोरुभावं सर्वात्मकं बहुमयात् किल वेदवेद्य ॥ ७४॥
Translation:
"O Lord of the Pramathas! The Śruti bows down repeatedly to Your righteous anger, to the weapons held in Your hands, to Your bow, arrows, and Your quiver. O Knower of the Vedas! The scriptures proclaim Your vast, all-pervading nature, declaring that You are the soul of everything, manifested in countless forms."
हिरण्यादिनामैः भवाद्यैश्च सोमैः शिवायेति च त्वां महेशं नतोऽस्मि । इन्द्रं मित्रं वरुणमनलं पङ्कजाज्जातमेकं नानारूपं हरिमिति मखे त्वां ह्वयन्तेऽध्वरेशम् ॥ ७५॥
Translation:
"I bow down to You, O Maheśa, who are addressed by Vedic names such as Hiraṇya (the golden one), Bhava, Soma, and Śiva. Though priests in Vedic sacrifices invoke various names like Indra, Mitra, Varuṇa, Agni, Brahmā (born from the lotus), and Hari (Viṣṇu), they are in truth calling upon You alone—the ultimate Lord of the Sacrifice (Adhvaresha) manifested in diverse forms."
तेषां तत्तच्छ्रुतिभिः परिपिबसि महासोममीशान तुष्टः । सार्धं कामैश्च पुष्णास्यखिलभवहरो ब्राह्मणान् सोमपूतान् ॥ ७६॥
Translation:
"O Īśāna ! Being pleased by the chanting of their respective Vedic hymns, You accept and drink the great Soma juice offered in the sacrifices. O Destroyer of worldly bondage! You fulfill all the righteous desires of the Brāhmaṇas who have been purified by the Soma rituals, and You nourish them completely."
त्वं वेदेषु प्रथितो विप्रवर्यो मनुष्योहं ब्रह्मणश्चाप्तकामः । तस्मात्सोमो ब्राह्मणानां हि राजा वेदेषु त्वं प्रथितश्चोपवीती । तस्माच्छ्रेयस्त्वत्पदाब्जं महेश ॥ ७७॥
Translation:
"You are celebrated in the Vedas as the foremost among the wise (Vipravarya). I am but a mortal man, yet seeking the ultimate realization of Brahman. Because the Vedas declare that 'Soma is indeed the king of the Brāhmaṇas,' and because You are praised in the scriptures as the wearer of the sacred thread (Upaviti), Your lotus feet alone, O Maheśa, are the ultimate source of my highest spiritual well-being."
