Message For All Those Who Feel Underprepared

The story of the 1983 Indian Cricket Team is perhaps the greatest example of how sheer belief can outrun a lack of 100% preparation. Before the tournament, the Indian team was considered so "unprepared" that many players had actually planned their summer vacations to start midway through the World Cup, fully expecting to be knocked out early. They hadn't played much One Day International cricket and were facing the mighty West Indies, a team that seemed impossible to beat. On paper, India didn't have the "perfect" preparation or the world's fastest bowlers, but they had a captain in Kapil Dev who refused to act like an underdog.
During the final, India was bowled out for a tiny score of 183. In the dressing room, instead of feeling defeated by their low total, Kapil Dev told his men that while the score wasn't great, they should make the West Indies struggle for every single run. That confidence was infectious. They didn't have a massive total to defend, but they defended their self-respect. Because they played with a "nothing to lose" attitude and stayed calm under pressure, they pulled off the biggest upset in sports history.

They proved that a person who is 80% prepared but 100% confident will always beat someone who is 100% prepared but paralyzed by fear.

For any big challenge, remember that your brain works best when it is relaxed. If you walk into a room thinking you have forgotten everything, your mind will freeze. But if you tell yourself, "I know enough to find a way," your brain starts connecting the dots.
