Opposites

Your touch is warm and soft,
but your eyes speak a lot,
about your detachment
from my soul,
about your unwillingness
to let me take control,

I can see reluctance
in your actions,
I can see aloofness
in your smile,

The way you ignore
every drop of tear
from my eyes,
the way you save yourself
from my highs,

You say, you care,
but your actions
speak the truth,
You say, you love,
but it's not the same
as it used to be
in our youth,

I shower love and affection
but you avoid them
like a plague,
I held everything
out for you,
but that's not what
you want to bear.

Still,
nothing would stop me
from loving you
unconditionally,
Not even the thought
that you would
never accept me.

Sometimes souls never meet,
Sometimes one of them just
runs behind the other.

I feel like myself
when I spend my time
with the people I love,
I love chatting with them
about how our life has changed
and how we've come
far from how we used to be,

But more than that,
I love to slip past the conversations,
leaving words of success,
talks of vacation,
chit chats of make-up
and the exchange of recipes behind,

I like to escape through the door
to the streets
where no one is found,
on a walk with myself,
between trees which bend too much
towards their origin,

I like to walk through the cry
of a baby in the neighbourhood,
crushing dried leaves beneath my feet,

I love to walk slowly as a sloth,
like I have no where to go,
I love to cross my hands
and hug myself,
like I am there for myself
as the cold breeze passes by,

I feel more like myself
when I spend my time with me,
when I am alone with the
calmness which silence brings...

OLD PEN

My pen has grown old now,
it gets tired easily,
and it shakes to spell
words which are heavy,
it tries to put them together
but at the end find them scattered
on the fine edges of the page.

My pen has grown old now,
it bleeds forsaken sins
and nothing can efface it,
it stubbles on every word
like it very well knows what's next,
it hesitates on every step
like it knows it has been there before as well,

My pen has grown old now,
it can't redeem it's mistakes
and it creates mess after mess
even after knowing it's life is at stake.

If the sun is the lover of the earth,
his love must be true,
for it doesn't pick on it
just like you do.

It shows up every day
and disappears every night,
but don't think it's gone
it's always there, hiding it's light,

Stars envy him for they don't know,
how to keep loving while letting go...

Do you know the feeling
when you are unable to sleep
because someone
said something to you
and then their words settle
in the bottom of your heart,
and each word starts to beat
in your ears again and again
as every second passes by.

You try to divert your mind
and think about something else
but that doesn't work,
all because your heart starts to rot
where the words have settled.

Such an innocent organ your heart is,
to carry words said by resentment
with love and care
until it's last beat.

You don't learn to write just by knowing beautiful words or all metaphors that can be dropped at the right place. You don't be a poet by phrasing a line that sounds poetic,

You learn how to write when you stop a while to notice a few squirrels playing around, when you see a pigeon laying eggs, when you are gazing at the sky and wish for a shooting star or when you are looking in someone's eyes but see more warmth than the morning sun.

You learn to write in moments when you feel, what normally others don't,
you learn to write in loneliness gifted in shades of smiles and
you learn to write every other time when the world keeps moving but you wait,
still as a mountain looking at clouds passing by,
patient as the ocean which keeps its pace wishing one day it'll reach its destiny,
mournful as the dried land waiting to witness one drop of rain quench its thirst,
you wait as if there's nothing better to do,
you learn to write in bits...
