Here's how to break any bad pattern you have: (addiction, bad habits, whatever you wanna get rid off.)

Essentially, the brain expects a certain sequence

You feel X -> You do Y -> You feel shame -> Rinse and repeat

To break that pattern, you disrupt your body.

Whenever you get an urge,

...cold exposure, pain, discomfort, shock...anything that gives off that, will work.

10 aggressive push ups,

Blast cold water on your face

Hold a wall squat until your legs burn.

This signals to your nervous system that you're trying to BREAK this pattern.

After you break this pattern, there's this empty space for a while, almost like a void where either two things happen

1. Fall back into the old loop
Or
2. Brute force with discipline through it

One of the best ways to fill the void is by asking yourself:

"Who am I now"

... It's one of the most powerful pattern breaking questions you can use since it forces the nervous system to reach for a new identity actively.

Goes from reaction to creation, and interrupts your narrative loop ("I always do this" -> "Wait, who am I now?")

(And a shit ton of other stuff but this'd get too long)

Then emotionally engrave it by doing a thing that'd usually get you further to your goal (For example, start writing, working on something, watching, etc.)

Aka action is taken that confirms the new answer

Overtime you could develop cravings for productivity with this,

But generally this is how you get rid of bad habits you find yourself in.
