# Customized_Healing_Abutments

Purpose
- To guide soft tissue formation and create an ideal emergence profile.
- Especially useful in anterior areas or in deep/lingual implants.
- Improves esthetics and cleansability of the final restoration.

Materials and Options
- PEEK / PMMA / composite resin / titanium.
- Many implant systems provide Temporary/Provisional Abutments (PEEK/PMMA) for customized healing abutments.

General Protocol (chairside or lab)
1) Select temporary abutment according to platform, height, connection.
Adjust only within IFU limits.

2) Extraoral shaping (preferred)
- Mount abutment on analog.
- Shape with composite/acrylic freehand or using a mold system (e.g., Cervico).
- If intraoral adjustment is done, protect soft tissue with sterile rubber dam.

3) Sterilization
Many customized healing abutments are delivered non-sterile and must be sterilized before clinical use.
