Seeking the Pleasure of Allฤh Above the Approval of the Creation
After reflecting upon Four Essays on the Obligation of Veiling, one truly sees the importance of seeking the pleasure of Allฤh over the approval of the creation.
The believer is not driven by customs, trends, societal pressure, or the opinions of people, but rather by submission to the command of Allฤh and His Messenger ((๏ทบ,)) upon the understanding of the righteous Salaf and the people of knowledge.
This is why it is essential for every Muslim to perform due diligence by reading the research, evidences, and detailed treatises of the scholars of Ahlus-Sunnah, instead of relying upon emotions, assumptions, or watered-down speech regarding the religion.
The righteous Salaf were the most eager of the people in preserving modesty, chastity, and obedience to the commandments of Allฤh. Likewise, the major scholars of Islฤm throughout the generations clarified the obligation of the Muslim woman covering herself before non-maแธฅrams, without distorting the religion to accommodate desires or societal pressures.
Allฤh ุณุจุญุงูู ูุชุนุงูู has honored the Muslim woman with modesty, dignity, and covering. This ruling is not restricted to one land, culture, or era; rather, it is legislation from the Lord of the worlds for every country and every society. Allฤh says:
โAnd tell the believing women to lower their gaze, guard their chastity, and not display their adornment except what ordinarily appears thereofโฆโ
[ An-Nลซr :31}
And He ุณุจุญุงูู ูุชุนุงูู said:
โO Prophet! Tell your wives, your daughters, and the women of the believers to draw their outer garments over themselves. That is more suitable so that they may be known and not abused.โ
[ Al-Aแธฅzฤb :59]
สฟฤสพishahุฑุถู ุงููู ุนููุง saidregarding
The Believing women:โคต๏ธ
โWhen the verse concerning veiling was revealed, they tore their garments and covered themselves with them.โ
[Reported by Al-Bukhฤrฤซ]
The Prophet ((๏ทบ)) also said:โคต๏ธ
โWhoever seeks the pleasure of Allฤh while displeasing the people, Allฤh will suffice him against the people.โ
[ Reported by At-Tirmidhฤซ]
So if someone says, โWhat about France or other countries where practicing Islฤm is difficult?โ then we say: the believer protects his religion wherever he may be.
Hardship does not make falsehood become truth, nor does pressure permit a Muslim to water down the clear commandments of Allฤh. Rather, the servant fears Allฤh to the best of his ability and remains steadfast upon obedience.
And if disagreements arise, then the affair must be returned to Allฤh and His Messenger ((๏ทบ)) with the understanding of the righteous predecessors. Allฤh said:
โAnd if you differ in anything amongst yourselves, refer it to Allฤh and the Messenger, if you truly believe in Allฤh and the Last Day.โ
[An-Nisฤสพ 4:]
Therefore, beware of those who beautify compromise and dilute the rulings of the religion in the name of โmodernity,โ โculture,โ or โease.โ True sincerity is to guide the people to the truth with wisdom, mercy, and evidence not to conceal the truth or soften the religion to please society.
Whoever tells you something contrary to the clear guidance of the Qurสพฤn, the Sunnah, and the understanding of the righteous Salaf and the trustworthy people of knowledge has deceived you away from the truth in this matter, even if their speech appears gentle and attractive.
The caller to Allฤh should not be primarily concerned with numbers, subscribers, followers, or pleasing the people.
Rather, the concern should be: โคต๏ธ
Are we conveying the truth sincerely according to the Qurสพฤn and the Sunnah upon the understanding of the righteous Salaf? For indeed, guidance is in the Hand of Allฤh, and success is not measured by popularity, but by sincerity and correctness.
