Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse — biblical figures symbolizing the disasters and upheavals that precede the Second Coming and the Last Judgment. They are described in the sixth chapter of the Book of Revelation. Each horseman appears after the Lamb breaks one of the seals on the Book of Life. After each of the first four seals is opened, the tetramorphs call out to John: «Come, see» — and one after another, the apocalyptic riders are revealed.

A young woman stands in her undergarment and half-coat, fresh from the bathhouse, surrounded by a matchmaker and attendants. The matchmaker wears a festive "baba kika" and holds a copper basin and poker—symbols of future abundance. One helper sweeps with a birch broom, clearing life’s obstacles; another carries a yoke with two pails, symbolizing marital unity. The others dance, rattling household items to ward off evil spirits.

To the right, married women from both families feast on pies and mead, dressed in finery, observing the ritual and recalling their own youth.

In the background, a young girl pauses on the bathhouse porch, mesmerized. Soon, she too will be central to this tradition.
