Internship ላይ Labor ward duty እያለሁ ያሳለፍኩትን አስታወሱኝ the above pictures. I had ሞት የሚያስመኝ duty that day.
This was what happened. I was following laboring mothers till midnight. And 3 more laboring mothers came with referral from one of the catchment health centers. My duty mate had already slept at 12 am and it was my turn to sleep after 3 am. But then the patients came and I was told to wake her up and join the team. 2 of the patients had a cesarean section and I assisted both of them. And then it was already 5 am and I needed to prepare for morning. Then I told my duty mate to cover for me till I take a 10 min nap. And then I took a 10 min nap and got up to write morning cases. አንተ 10 ደቂቃ እንደዚህ ረጅም ነው? በስማም never seen a 10 min nap as sweet as that one. እርፍ ነው ያልኩት። But I was fooling my body. The accumulated fatigue was there.
I will never forget that day. I don't know how the morning went but I only remember that I sat down in front of a bunch of seniors presenting something that didn't make sense even for myself. በስማም ተውኝ። ብቻ ላብ አደሮች ቀን should be celebrated in Labor ward for real😂. It's not ላብ አደሮች in labor ward context. Its actually ቁጭ ብሎ አደሮች ቀን። We aint ማደርing there. We are just ቁጭing instead.
