Ethereum Foundation sells another 5,000 ETH

The Ethereum Foundation has sold another 5,000 ETH. The tokens were sold over-the-counter to reduce pressure on exchange prices. The buyer was Bitmine, which purchased the ETH at an average price of around $2,043.

The foundation plans to use the more than $10 million raised from the deal to fund its core operations, including research, development and community grants.

Over the past three months, the Ethereum Foundation has sold around 21,000 ETH worth at least $60 million. Separately, Vitalik Buterin sold 17,196 ETH worth about $35 million to finance open-source projects.

Polygon becomes a payments platform

Polygon Labs announced the $250 million acquisition of crypto payments company Coinme and wallet infrastructure provider Sequence.

The combined company will gain access to Coinme’s licensing network covering 48 U. S. states, as well as more than 50,000 retail kiosks and ATMs for cash-to-crypto exchanges across the United States.

“We are becoming a regulated payments platform, and our goal is to offer a fully vertically integrated stack that enables anyone to use stablecoins to move money anywhere,” said Polygon Labs CEO Marc Boiron.

The deal could position Polygon alongside payments giants such as Stripe. However, Boiron noted that the company is focused on partnering with established players as stablecoin adoption continues to grow.
