​​Wemix delisting saga continues at South Korean court.

Microsoft-backed video game developer Wemade plans to further continue the legal battle against South Korea's largest crypto exchanges.

A court in South Korea has supported the decision of local exchanges to delist Wemade’s Wemix (WEMIX) tokens, dismissing Wemade’s request to cancel the delisting.

The Seoul Central District Court ruled on Dec. 7 to justify the decision of the Digital Asset eXchange Alliance (DAXA) to delist WEMIX from major South Korean exchanges, The Korea Herald reported on Thursday.

The DAXA, a crypto exchange group representing South Korea’s largest firms like Upbit, Bithumb, Coinone, Korbit and Gopax, said that Wemade has failed to properly disclose the number of tokens outstanding.

The court has reportedly supported the position of the DAXA, emphasizing the importance of transparent reporting of token’s distribution, stating:

“Crypto assets have no regulator or an absolute means of determining their price like the stock market. Therefore the distribution number is crucial because the price is decided as a result of the balance between supply and demand."

In response to the latest ruling, Wemade argued that the firm will continue the legal battle against DAXA and will appeal the court’s order.

“We will continue to make efforts to prove the injustice of DAXA's decision,” the firm reportedly said, adding that it also plans to file a suit. Additionally, the firm is planning to send a complaint to the Korea Fair Trade Commission, which is a major regulatory authority for economic competition in the country.

The court’s ruling came shortly after Wemade filed a petition for a preliminary injunction on Nov. 28, after DAXA member exchanges first delisted WEMIX in late November.

Founded in 2000, Wemade is a South Korean video game developer, backed by major global tech companies, including Microsoft. The firm launched its gaming-related Wemix blockchain platform alongside the eponymous token in late 2019.

The Wemix cryptocurrency has been plummeting amid the delisting news since late November, seeing even more red amid the latest news.

​​Scam alert: Trezor warns users of new phishing attack.‼️

The new active phishing attack tries to steal Trezor users’ crypto by tricking investors into entering their recovery phrase on a fake Trezor site.

Hardware cryptocurrency wallet provider Trezor has warned its users about a new phishing attack targeting their crypto investments by trying to steal their private keys.

Trezor took to Twitter on Feb. 28 to caution users about an active phishing attack designed to steal investors’ money by making them enter the wallet’s recovery phrase on a fake Trezor website.

The phishing campaign involves attackers posing as Trezor and contacting victims via phone calls, texts or emails claiming that there has been a security breach or suspicious activity on their Trezor account.

“Trezor Suite has recently endured a security breach, assume all your assets are vulnerable,” the fake message reads, inviting users to follow a phishing link to “secure” their Trezor device.

“Please ignore these messages as they are not from Trezor,” Trezor declared on Twitter, emphasizing that the firm will never contact its customers via calls or SMS. The firm added that Trezor had not found any evidence of a database breach.

According to online reports, the latest phishing attack against Trezor customers was launched on Feb. 27, with users being directed to a domain asking to enter their recovery seed. The domain provides a perfectly-made fake Trezor website that prompts users to start securing their wallets by clicking the “Start” button.

After clicking the “Start” button, users will be asked to provide the recovery phrase for their cryptocurrency wallet.

💣The wallet’s recovery phrase, or private keys, is the most important part of self-custody by keeping your crypto on a software or hardware noncustodial wallet. The safety of the recovery phrase is more important than keeping the hardware wallet safe. Once the private keys are stolen, it means that crypto holdings no longer belong to their original owner.

​​BNB Chain hackathon winner accuses Binance of stealing AI-powered NFTs idea.

Chatcasso won first prize in the BNB Chain hackathon for its AI-powered NFT creation tool.

Crypto exchange Binance has been accused🥴 of “blatantly” copying the winner of the BNB Chain hackathon after launching Bicasso — an AI-based nonfungible token (NFT) creation tool. Binance allegedly ripped off a tool created by Chatcasso just two months after awarding them first prize in a BNB Chain hackathon held in Seoul from Dec. 17–19, 2022.

On March 1, Binance CEO Changpeng “CZ” Zhao announced the launch of Bicasso, an artificial intelligence (AI) product that can be used to “turn your creative visions into NFTs with AI.” However, community member “ggoma” believes Binance copied and promoted the Chatcasso project as its own.

Binance, on the other hand, dismissed the accusations of plagiarism. Speaking to Cointelegraph, a Binance spokesperson said Bicasso is an experimental project built by a small team at Binance as a test, and that NFTs and AI are common concepts worked on by many industry players.

🤩Chatcasso won the first prize in the BNB Chain hackathon for creating an AI-powered tool for creating NFTs, receiving $5,000 in Binance USD.

However, ggoma was shocked to see Binance launch a similar platform within two months, stating:

“A big company like Binance copying everything down to the name? It’s not only unethical, but it’s also confusing for users. The names are so similar that it’s hard to tell them apart.”

In addition, ggoma shared screenshots of the two projects to showcase the similarities between the user interface and capabilities.

Binance maintains that the similarities do not imply theft of ideas. The exchange’s spokesperson told Cointelegraph:

😲“Despite the similarities, after conducting an internal review, we’re confident that Bicasso was designed and developed independently more than two weeks before the BNB hackathon.”

Moreover, Binance and BNB Chain operate separately, and the Binance development team is not involved in BNB Chain hackathons, said the spokesperson.😏

Binance clarified to Cointelegraph that the Bicasso name was inspired by the OpenAI tool “Dall-E,” referring to the artist Salvador Dali, adding, “our team loved this concept.”

💰 TON validators set to vote on suspending $2.5 billion in toncoin

The Open Network (TON) are considering the suspension of 195 inactive addresses on the proof-of-stake blockchain, with a vote scheduled to begin on Feb. 21. In total, these addresses currently hold just over 1 billion toncoin or 21.3% of the total supply, worth around $2.5 billion at today’s valuation.

At least 75% of validators must participate in several voting rounds for the vote to pass. If approved, the proposed suspension will last for four years, with the affected addresses not able to make any transactions for the duration of the freeze period. The “suspended list” would be visible on the public blockchain. TON’s mining strategy was designed to decentralize the distribution process while remaining a proof-of-stake blockchain.
