A “spread” is the difference between the best buy price and the best sell price of a cryptocurrency.

Imagine you have become the owner of a currency exchange. Customers come to you and can buy dollars at a certain price, but if they want to exchange dollars back, you offer them a slightly lower price. The difference between those two prices is the spread!

In the world of cryptocurrencies, spreads play an important role among traders. It is like a navigator that helps us to assess the “weather” in the market.

If the spread is small, it means the market is stable and you can buy and sell cryptocurrency without large additional costs.

If the spread is large, it means that this asset is “volatile,” and with each trade, you can lose more because of these additional costs.

Honestly, if you are a beginner and not a trader, you shouldn’t dive too deep into this topic =) But you should have a general idea about the spread!

“ELI5,” which stands for “explain like I’m 5, is an appeal to simplicity when explaining cryptocurrency concepts.

Although the expression predates Bitcoin, it is now firmly associated with crypto.

The phrase’s origin goes back to a famous quote by Albert Einstein, who said, “If you can’t explain it to a six-year-old child, then you don’t understand it yourself.”

This slang expression is straightforward: If you don’t understand something in the crypto world, you can always ask someone, “ELI5, please!”

There is a lack of fresh liquidity in the market. Bitcoin is slowly distancing itself from the rest of the crypto ecosystem. BTC has created its own second-tier paper ecosystem through ETFs, MicroStrategy and other funds. In this system, it is impossible to build bridges to flow liquidity to other altcoins.

Altcoins have two paths: create their own paper ecosystem or build a real internet money infrastructure based on stablecoins or BTC.

Only a few altcoins are starting to show independent trends, attracting new liquidity. The analyst advises to look for coins that can realise one of these scenarios and hold them for the long term.
